Bout to watch The Orphanage...

A buddy of mine just dropped off this dvd screener of The Orphanage and told me NOT to burn but watch it and he'll be back in 2 hours to pick it up. So Im thowing this bad boy in right now,and will be back to tell you what I thought.

Well... it was a good movie. I tried not to think about Pan's when I started the movie but couldn't help it when the film opens up to a little girl. I'm not gonna give any spoilers but it is a good flick. Again Del Toro nails this flick with a good kid actor and a great supporting cast (especially the mom). Cinematography was top notch again along with a good score (not as good as Pan's) and also great costume design (That mask was pretty creepy). There's no "BOOM" scary type moments but its the suspense that really grabs you, which is balanced throughout the film. When you get a chance watch it, BUT DONT compare it to Pan's. 8/10

Del Toro is just a producer on this one so I don't know why you'd compare it to Pan's in the first place. :ahheh:

well the TV spots say its the best since Pans. So most people will make the comparison. I enjoyed Pans but one thing that always bugs me about Fantasy is you just have to accept the strangest things as reality to enjoy the film. And I did enjoy Pans, but I hope Orphanage makes more since. I read a review on AITN that it is a good movie and its worth watching, but its not really a horror movie like its being promoted. Is that true?
