Favre announces retirement in 5...4...3...

Beware
01-20-2008, 10:16 PM
Do they even have to play the super bowl? The Giants just secured a Pats victory.

I hate championship games where there is no competition.

Max Payne
01-20-2008, 10:16 PM
fucking farve, i cant believe how much he blew it.

how many times did he think he had to throw it down field when 5 yard passes would of won the game in both of those last two drives.

Luckily the Mannings were blessed with football talent, because they're all some ugly mofos.

They almost beat NE and are obviously better than GB.

Favre came threw with another game winning pass in overtime, to Webster.

Favre needs to call it quits. Love the guy, but he's not a big game QB in the post season and never will be. He has absolutely no faith in the rest of his team when the tough gets going and constantly believes he has to win the game on every single down.

I'm just so tired of his boneheaded playoff performances. He cannot be coached to play smart football and I'll be severely disappointed if he comes back next year. It's just time for the Packers to move on.

He'll be back to throw more INT"s next season

Yeah, I hear ya Knight. It might be time they get a stud QB and let Favre go down in history as one of the greats before he starts to further tarnish his reputation.

He definitely thinks he's always the best player on the field in any game, and that thinking hurt him and his team tonight.

Love how a GB fan is calling for Farves retirement, even after taking his team to within a score of going to the SB.

He's the reason your here, he's the reason for the past 10 plus years of success, without him, this team doesn't even make the playoffs.

He will be back, no reason not to.

Get the Super Bowl thread up, Red!

Max Payne

Ok here are my initial thoughts on the SB...

Giants competed and came real close to beating the Pats during the last game of the season, however this was when the Giants thought this was about as good as it was going to get this season, they played that game to win when it didn't even matter to them. They had home field, a huge advantage, it was championship type crowd going in there.

The Pats have a whole game, less then a month old to review and to fix what mistakes they had, they have Eli Manning and the Giants in the SB where they just might piss them selfs, going against a defense with two weeks of rest/game tape to prepare against, the undefeated crap is useless here in the playoffs, only twice did it cross my mind in the two games. Cause its the same for everyone now, win or go home, playing in the Superbowl is motivation enough for the Pats to not let the other team win, the record doesn't come into play.

Plus, you have Brady playing against a team he didn't do all that well against, I think we see major adjustments, the Giants won't be playing this game to take away the perfect season, that should be a bonus, they are playing to win the SB, which is as good as it gets, the Pats will be playing for the same thing too.

Pats shouldn't have any trouble winning this game at all.

I will put the thread up.

Quick thoughts.

Great game, better than the AFC Champ game. I concur with Knight. The problem with Favre is when the game gets out of hand or slipping away, he starts getting reckless and that happened again in this game.

You have OT, game on the line. If you dont have the play down the field, you throw it away, punt the ball. Either Driver fucked up or it was Favre throwing an erratic ball.

Other than that, the big problem they had is they couldnt run the ball.

Yeah yeah yeah huge advantage my ass the giants suck at home. I really feel like Manning is on FIRE this post season and really can give the Pats some trouble. Shit the chargers made some noise today

Come on, man.

Imagine watching Brady throw 6 picks against St. Louis, a horrid overtime pick against the Eagles, 4 picks against Minnesota (at home) and now this (at home) when the game is all for the taking.

How would you feel?

Now I can let some of those losses go because those Packers teams weren't very good to begin with, but this was inexcusable.

Imagine every time your QB gets the ball you worry if he's going to throw a pick or not.

Like I said, love the guy. Lot's of great memories, and this was a fun season regardless. But the Packers have a good new head coach, lots of young talent and a QB that could be something special riding the pine. I'm a Brett Favre fan no question, but a Green Bay Packer fan first and foremost and I'm totally convinced right now that Favre is an accident waiting to happen in the playoffs.

very good point that the Gmen dont play their best football at home.
I am looking forward to a good football game.

They do have a huge advantage, other then being the greatist team to ever play, they beat this same team less then a month ago.

Don't let the success following that game blind you, it started with the Pats game, not after.

The Pats will win by atleast 2 TD, and that is that.

only thing that has me worried, is the pass rush, which with two weeks to fix and a SB on the line, I don't think it's the issue it was 3 weeks ago.

Doesn't really matter who goes to the SB NE will win.

Sentiment is unnderstood, but two things are obvious. Farve is the reason the Packers had the season they did above anyone.

And if that last INT didn't happen and you guys win by a FG, I don't think you feel the way you do.

Honestly, do you think Farve will cost the Packers a chance to win the SB next year more so then having anyone else in there to help win it?

As long as Farve is playing better then the alternitive, then he has to stay.

Know what really impresses me about the Giants?

They had to beat both the #1 and #2 seeds on the road in order to get to the Super Bowl.

They've gelled and they're a dangerous team. I hope the Pats remember that when they take the field in two weeks.

RIP Lambeau Mystique

That Lambeau Mystique has been dead for a while now. Ever since Mike Vick destroyed the Pack in the playoffs in Lambeau.

I'm sure we feel pretty much like Dallas fans. Giants stuck us both in the chops. Eli is playing smart, poised football. I'm nothing short of impressed by their determination.

I'm sure we feel pretty much like Dallas fans.

Most of them could probably care less.

I've yet to meet a Cowboys fan who cares about football or even knows the names of any players on the team outside of T.O and Tony Romo. Half of them probably still think Troy Aikmen is their QB. Out here in California you see every other person wearing Cowboys gear yet ask them about Julius Jones or Bradie James and watch them get that deer in the headlights look on their face.

I mean I'm sure there's die-hard Cowboys fans out there somewhere who actually watch the games but I've yet to meet any.
