I'm not one to call a lock or etch a win in stone. I'm going with GB 'cause I'm a homer, and because I believe they're a better team, and playing at home. The Pack lost three games this year. That certainly proves nothing's a lock.

And just for giggles, here was my Super Bowl prediction week one of the season..

This year's Super Bowl - New England vs Green Bay

Yeah, I'm being a homer on the Super Bowl pick because quite honestly, I don't know what the hell I'm talking about this year in the NFL. I really have no clue. Haven't paid any attention whatsoever. So, may as well go with my Green and Gold.

Could happen.. :ahheh:

If it ends up being a GB vs. N.E. Super Bowl, I would love to see everyone get into detailed descriptions behind why they believe X team will win.

I actually think GB offers the best match-up against NE of any of the NFC teams. They have the corners blanketed to go with a good enough offense to drop 20+ on the Pats' D.

I think that would be an amazing Super Bowl and much closer than people may think.

I paid $200 for Sunday Ticket so I could see the Pack win 9 or 10 games at best.

But this...totally out of left field. It's been a special season.

Pack 34, Giants 24
Patriots 42, Chargers 17

I dont see any reason to think that the Packers wont beat the Giants.

It would be nice to see the Chargers take out the Patriots, but I really dont see that happening either, but who knows if LT can pound the ball and control the clock and Shawne Merriman and company can harass and put pressure on Brady then maybe.

I still think the Colts had a better chance of getting the win against the Pats.

Knight
01-13-2008, 08:08 PM
Yeah, I don't see the Chargers pulling off the upset. They just match up well with the Colts and always play them tough for whatever reason.

With New England, not so much.

San Diego will win as long as the refs arent in the pockets of the Pats as per usual. In the other game, both teams benefited from referees in their back pockets costing both the Cowboys and Seahawks wins. Nevetheless the refs love Favre more and he can pay them more so they win.

Well, at least it would be a new challenge for the Pats. I would like to think the Pack would play them as tough as anybody else this year. In my dream scenario, they would do to the Patriots what Denver did to the Packers.

But it's the Giants first and that'll have me all hyper in itself.

Giants have a real chance up in Lambeau.

That said, I hear Eli doesnt like to play in cold weather. If its true, hes gonna have to man up and do what his brother could never do. Win outside in bad weather conditons in the playoffs. Can it be done? Sure, but I think the Giants are gonna need a perfect game whereas the Packers can play somewhat sloppy and still win this game especially if its snowing.

Eli has been doing great this year. I used to bash him but now that he has won a playoff game or 2 i'm off his case. Looks like Oravear was right, just needed to give him a little more time.

Pats defense is playing so marginally average right now that even though I think they'll beat the Chargers. I dont think the game will be a cakewalk like im sure many believe it will be.

Especially against the run. The teams that have been able to stay with them have been able to run the ball with alot of consistency which shortens the game up which in turn puts alot of pressure on the offense to do what its been doin which is score alot and often. Sooner or later you have to figure they will turn the ball over or be stopped afew times.

If that happens, the perfect dream is over IMO. Im not one to slob all over Brady's knob like other Pat fans have done or do often. That said, over the last few weeks proves why this team is DEAD in the water if they dont have Brady playing at the level hes been playing at for most of the season.

Lets just hope they play near flawless again for one more week if your a Pat fan because the Defense cant give you alot of confidence at this point. Its not a championship caliber defense.

All Im saying, is I rather play the Packers, as thats the best SB match up at this point, I wont even tune in to a Giant/Charger game.

But the Packers better watch out for the Giants D line, it's the best Ive seen this year, there fast and will get tons of pressure assuming they don't get all conservitive giving whats on the line, and with that kind of pressure, lets see if Farve can keep from throwing 3 picks like he has all year.

Knight
01-16-2008, 07:42 PM
28 TD's and 15 picks this year.

Not bad.

In fact, those are Tom Brady numbers before this year. If Favre was going to have a bad game then he would have had it last week being down 14 points against Seattle who has a much better secondary than the Giants. Instead, he had his best statistical playoff game of his career.

Anything can happen, and Favre could have a bad game. Who knows. But I'd be more concerned with what Eli brings to the table if he can't rely on his running game.

Max Payne
01-16-2008, 07:48 PM
Im not downing his year, I respect the shit out of Farve and really like him, one of the best all time.

Im just saying, that if the Packs lose, and Giants win, that the reason will be because of the pressure, which is kind of cliche but when the Pats played them, and at the time they prolly thought it would of been there biggest game of the year, they were all movtivated and played amazing.

So, if they play against the Packs with the emotion and pressure they did against the Pats, I think they win. But I have to go with Farve and the Packs cause 1, they already beat the Giants this year, and 2, it's not like there not going to be motivated to win either.

Knight
01-16-2008, 08:14 PM
Emotion and motivation isn't enough to win football games. You have to execute on gameday.

Are the Giants playing with heart right now? Absolutely. Winning 9 games on the road, in a row, is never easy. But the Pack have also been defying expectations this year and are not only a good road team but have been almost unstoppable at home. I agree that if the Giants win, it's because they forced the Packers to make mistakes and beat themselves. Otherwise, the Giants are simply out-gunned in almost all positions. They're also extremely short-manned in their secondary which isn't all that great to begin with.

Scaremonger
01-16-2008, 08:30 PM
The Giants are full of heart, and I'm sure they'll play like they actually want to be there, unlike Seattle.

Ill chime in.

San Diego at New England - New England
NY Giants at GreenBay Packers - Packers

Im a big Bengal fan at heart but they blow chunks, Marvin needs to go along with the rest of the players with a mug shot. Embarassing last couple of seasons after all the expectations. Need an abundance of cultur changes to even get back on the map. Maybe even get rid of Palmer. He hasnt shown much and hes a crybaby.

Nevertheless, I dont mind any of the teams left including NE. Not much of a hater but if the superbowl ends up being packers/pats ill go with the packers because i think it will be more storybook if favre wins one more ring to end a career on a highnote. NE always has next year to do the same thing again.

Looks like the adversity poison pill has returned up in Foxboro. Except instead of being in Week 1 with a whole season to go. Its days before the biggest game of the season.

Moss accused of hitting a girl whom hes been friends with for 11 years. ESPN doing their best to hype it up before the game. Now im not gonna be a complete homer here. There is no denying Moss has had a shady past, moreso in Minnesota than anytime prior. His rep for quitting in Oakland has kinda been muted with the season hes had so far this season.

Nevertheless, he sounded pretty genuine yesterday. Even telling the media he wanted to talk to them to get his story straight. Whether or not that was a good idea is up for debate.

In the end, I dont think something like this will cause too big of a distraction. However the timing of it all is pretty unfortunate. With the way everything has come out. It sounds like this woman is out to make a buck like so many other situations like this with other athletes in the past. Nevertheless, I'd be lying if I didnt say its a concern probably until gameday.

fact is, someone is taking advantage of moss reputation and his posistion (one game from SB) and was trying to get money out of him.

according to his lawyers, this is all over a cut on her finger.

that only problem i have with this, is it takes away from football talk and the accomplishments the entire team is trying to make. its a shadow that we dont need, and you know it will be the talk the entire 2 week layoff before the SB if the pats get in, it's sickening how far this patriot hate can go, this isnt even a football matter and the media should of known better to try and influence it.

If San Diego gets by New England. They'll probably be even more banged up and considering GB played them well earlier in the season. If that SB happened, you'd have to like GB's chances IMO.

Giants and San Diego didnt meet this year, nonetheless im sure the Giants could give them a game. Its not like last year when the Pats/Colts was the 'SB' if you will because outside of Chicago and maybe New Orleans, the NFC was a joke last year. This year it got better without question IMO.

San Diego is very good at causing turnovers. They got 3 over on the Colts and the Colts very rarely make those type of mistakes. It isn't likely, but if they caused New England some trouble, I wouldn't be all that surprised.

With all the talk about international NFL games. Its only a matter of time before with see a 9th Division based off international squads IMO. Probably one in Canada, 2 in Europe and probably one in Mexico. If not, 2 in Canada.

It would further dilute the talent pool, but if these overseas games start to ring in success. Its only a matter of time before we get some real squads in those countries and not the NFL Europe League variety.

Faulk and Maroney carried the offense in the second half.

San Diego played well and probably should've won but they didnt take care of business in the endzone and thats when it counts. The Pats D was again shit all game long outside of the redzone and when they mysteriously decide to put pressure on Rivers in the 4th qaurter.

True but im basing it on the fact that he has been mediocre all season long even being the leagues leading rusher. He wasnt the explosive player he has been his whole career. He didnt play much last week and they were able to beat the Colts.

He took 3 snaps this game and they didnt win but it wasnt because LT wasnt in the game its because the Pats Defense made afew redzone stops and that goes all the way around.

Not to make excuses. Chargers played well but turned the ball over and kicked fieldgoals. Two big keys.

Yeah,I agree, not gonna beat the Pats with just field goals.

I'm just sayin with LT's abilities he may have been able to make a differnce when the Chargers were in the Red Zone rather then them kicking field goals.
But,the better team won,and thats all that matters.

pats take all the hate, and turn it into motivation.

with two weeks between now and the next game, gives the pats linebackers a shot to rest, and hopefully Moss uses that time to game plan for a monster SB.

Hopefully

LT wasn't as hurt as they made him sound, in the beginning of the game Norv took him out, it was his decision, not because of injury.

And as close as they got to the endzone. LT would have had at least 2 touch downs today and having his ass kissed on Sports Center.

Yet again, Sports Center is going to fucking suck until the Super Bowl is over. People turn in for 1 or 2 game highlights and its all Pats this and that.

Mark my words, Pats end the season 18-1...

Detective John Kimble?

Pats 21 Chargers 12

Earlier in the season

Pats 38 Chargers 14

Not gonna say anymore especially if you retort the whole cheating/Moss, etc. Your only doing what everyone else is and has done all season long.

If you truly watch Jag games, you would know that if any team in the leauge gets the benefit of the refs it's the Colts. They had a terrible PI call last year that eventually led to their win, and the leauge had to apoligize for the mistake.

Go away, now isn't the time to take away from the Pats.

I'm telling ya, the best thing that happened to the Giants was they played their starters against the Pats at the end of the season. I swear that put them into a playoff mentality a week earlier and made them realize they can hang with good teams. Manning has been solid so far throughout the playoffs.

It tells you a lot that the G-Men are still in it but the Bucs, Colts and Cowboys, who rested a lot of starters, are not.

I said the week before the GB game I thought they'd lose to GB because they are shit on the road, so don't come with that. Just can't see anyone beating NE. I thought the Colts would but they couldn't even beat SD.

If you want I can go down the road to the Patriots Pro Shop and buy you a Brady jersey and FedEx it out to you. It's probably much more expensive than a Hasselback jersey though, so be prepared to pony up.
