So today ended my 3rd day of Jury Duty after being selected in a criminal case (State vs. Someone, not Someone vs. Someone). I was amazed at how this guy thought he could get off since there was a mountain of evidence against him and his one witness failed him completely. And as I left the courthouse, after finding him guilty of grand larceny, burglury, and possession of stolen goods, I found that I actually enjoyed by jury service.

I found it weird since everyone else in the world seems to hate it, but yeah, I was interested the whole time and felt good showing this guy his actions do indeed have consequences.

Basically, anyone else enjoy their jury service or have an interesting story? (I'm even kind of bummed that i have to wait over 2 years to even be called again)

Went for the first time (I believe) less than a year after I turned 18. I was one of the youngest looking people in the huge room. We didn't have to go through the picking process since the case was closed when the guy plead guilty, so everyone just got to go home.

It still sucked that it took the whole freakin' day of just sitting around and doing nothing to get to that point. I have to say that I hated the experience. It's an incredibly long and boring process. Luckily I am excused from being called for duty again (for a while anyway) since I have a son, whom I look after since I work at home.

I went several years ago when i was working at a different job the fact that i got selected kinda surprised me since it was a murder trial the only thing good about it was the fact that the juror's i was with were pretty funny. I think if i can recall that it lasted at least week or maybe a little bit longer guess for the fact that it was a murder trial so my guess is that they needed to get enough evidence to get him in the end. I'm actually surprised that i haven't gotten a notice to do it again since it's been well over 2 years but i say that and i end up getting it.

Yeah, the first day did suck. From 7:30 a.m. to about 10:30 I just sat and waited with all the other potential jurors. Sat and waited in a courtroom until a little after noon for them to choose the jury and the case began at 1:30, so yeah, a lot of sitting.

I got called up just after I got out of college. Youngest one in the room, looked like a total dirtbag, figured the prosecutor would toss me out on my ear. No such luck. Thankfully it was pretty much and open and shut case, and were were seated on one day and the dude was tried and convicted the next.

I'd hate to do Jury Duty, my first reaction would to be come across very racist and homophobic.

In Las Vegas you have to be 21 I believe, and a resident of Nevada. Other than that they'll ask you questions when selecting the jury. Like, if the case is a black man who robbed an elderly woman, they'd probably ask you if you're rasict, ever been mugged (then if so, by a black man?) and probably if anyone in your family has been the victim of a crime.

If you seem to be in any way racist or predujicial (?) they'll probably pass you on being in their jury.

Oh, and if you're a student at a university or college or community college you'll be left alone.

I was on a case for somone vs the state as well. He was accused of child mollestation on his step daughter. We were in the case for 10 days. We found him not guitly, which was hard cause we thought he did something, but the evidence was lacking.

I was called in once. I was having a hair coloring crysis so I wore a hat. hats don't fly in a courtroom btw. apparently the case was about some dirty 40's year old looking man accused of molesting a young girl. They asked us questions like how would I handle a young girl crying, and would I judge before knowing the facts etc I was so going to fail because I had a gut instinct this guy was guilty and I hated cops at the time.

Anyway, after being laughed at about my hair when I took my hat off I wasn't picked because by the time they got to me they picked the jury.

I also wore a cap when I went, which was quickly taken off when one of the officers gestured for it to be removed from my head.

Never have and hopefully never will, probably because I don't like to be involved. I'm the type who'd rather just watch on TV or something.

Never been.

I actually forgot this shit even existed and it can happen whenever. I figured it was one of those things that like 1 out of 5 people ever got called in to do. I'm surprised so many of you have done it.
