I dunno it's going to be true or not, but this is what BD kept on saying.

On the red carpet for the premiere of CLOVERFIELD I chatted with writer Drew Goddard about the genesis of the film where he let us know that he certainly had more violent and bloody aspirations on his original draft. “The original draft was much more brutal. I wanted a hard R and we didn’t get a hard R, they read it and said this is way to brutal. I will say that I think we pushed the limits on a PG-13 rating we certainly shot a harder version than what is on the screen, we originally wanted it to be more bloody and disgusting.” He didn’t answer when asked if we will get to see that harder version when its released onto DVD. On the monster Goddard said, “It’s even better than I imagined as I was writing it!”

I also had the chance to speak with Director Matt Reeves about sequels and about a certain shot toward the end of the film that kind of looks as if the monster is smaller than we had seen…possibly implying that there is another monster or baby monster, he had this to say, “The monster has a pretty consistent size in the film, and towards the end even though its shot in such a way that there is a perspective change that makes him look a bit smaller but it is in fact the monster at his biggest.” On sequels Reeves confirmed rumors, but was quick to set them aside. “Only time will tell. While we were on set making the film we talked about the possibilities and directions of how a sequel can go. The fun of this movie was that it might not have been the only movie being made that night, there might be another movie! In today’s day and age of people filming their lives on their iphones and handy cams, uploading it to youtube…That was kind of exciting thinking about that.”

In a quick talk with star Lizzy Caplan, she had some stuff to say about horror in general comparing CLOVERFIELD to other popular genre films. “I’m not really a die hard horror fan, but I can appreciate a good scary film. I really like the spoof aspects of Shawn of the Dead and especially the remake of Dawn of the Dead.”

CLOVERFIELD arrives in theaters everywhere tomorrow. In the film five young New Yorkers throw their friend a going-away party the night that a monster the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city. Told from the point of view of their video camera, the film is a document of their attempt to survive the most surreal, horrifying event of their lives.

To me I think it's bull shit, but if it's true I hope they will show more info about the Monster if they do make another one.

I think it would be a good idea to go in a different direction. And I'm really not saying that just cuz I hated the shaky camera work. I just think they should do a sequal differently. But since I disliked the first one I dunno if I'd ever watch a sequal.

I'd watch it, you got a lot of directions you can go.

and also Spoiler below, highlight to read.

At the end of the credits when the final few things roll by a quick audio message seems to play, but it's full of static and hard to comprehend, but played backwards you hear someone say "It's still alive"

Well it maybe a good idea to do a sequal, just like the Blair witch project. Everyone hated the first one and part 2 was pretty good.

Hmm I may want to check it out at the end of the credits tomorrow when I see it again with my parents.

Wow I don't need to. I can go here.

FACT FIVE: Will There Be Anyone Left for a Sequel?
In the exclusive clip below, Rob (Michael Stahl-David) and Beth (Odette Yustman) run to catch the last helicopter out of Manhattan. Do they make it? We're not telling. But Director Matt Reeves has stated that if they do a sequel, it might take place during the same monster attack, but seen from another camera.

would be cool to do an immediate follow up from another perspective. the monster doesnt die and we get shots of news briefs showing the monsters attacking all over the world would be cool imo

I would of liked it if they made it a hard R like was intended.

we took the kids to see this yesterday and all they talked about after we left was if there was gonna be an unrated version and a sequal. i think a more cinematic (no more handhelds) approach would be better

They could do 100 sequals following the paths of 100 different people with a camcorder. Not saying they SHOULD... but they could. Not the choice I would go.

The film doesn't need a sequel. It was a bad ass movie in itself and just making a sequel would ruin it IMO. Some films are best kept as a one time movie only.

I have a feeling they are going to make a sequel and since there was someone who's fate isn't certain in the movie I'd like them to follow that person if they HAVE to make a sequel.

Honestly though, I think the way the movie was shot is what made this movie and doing a sequel in a different way, I don't see it working as well.

I just hope they don't go into the origins with a sequel. I think part of the fun of the movie was that you have no idea where it came from, you can just theorize by doing the background research into Slusho and the oil rig going down, etc.

well its officially a hit. $50 million so far. I could care less about a Cloverfield 2 but hopefully this will start a monster movie craze. For every dozen turds that come out theres still a couple good ones.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker's "Giant Monsters Attack Japan" will be hands down the best monster movie to come out in recent years.

Since it killed the BO I'm sure it'll have a sequel in the works. I don't mind. I thought Cloverfield was fantastic.

my friends and i were discussing a sequel. they should do the whole movie like a news broadcast. steady cameras, multiple views, panic, interviews, if done correctly it could actually be creepy

Go for it! I'd love to see a second. Nine chances out of ten it'll be bad cause how can you top the first but I'd love to see them try.
