NYG vs. New England - New England

8-2 overall

Will put together some thoughts on this game later within these two weeks. All I'll say is I wish it was Packers/Pats because of the history for both franchises. A veteran QB who coulda went out in style vs arguably the greatest single season team in history with one more win.

Nevetheless, with the Giants.

Its Boston vs. NY all over again which is always a good time for people in the NorthEast. Its also Manning vs. Brady again which will be the 3rd time a Manning has placed this team this season.

Cant wait, but I actually look forward to the bye week. Pats Defense is so shit right now outside of redzone D that BB really needs to rehaul things IMO.

Pats win going away, I think the Giants and Eli pull the same stunt that Grossman and the Bears did last year.

Have a up and down season, play awesome in the playoffs and then the pressure of the SB game and winning it shows the real you.

I think it will be a closer game then what people are giving credit for already. Especially if the G-Men can get some turnovers like the chargers did

Brady in a foot cast:

Walking wounded: Brady spotted in cast

Monday, Jan 21, 2008 11:44 pm EST
Fans of the New England Patriots had to be swallowing hard Monday when pictures of quarterback Tom Brady sporting a walking cast on his right foot surfaced.

A video taken of Brady in New York Sunday, which is available on TMZ.com, shows the NFL's MVP returning to girlfriend Gisele Bundchen's apartment. He's walking gingerly on the sidewalk after emerging from a black SUV parked on the street.

During his weekly appearance on WEEI's "Dennis and Callahan" show, Brady didn't dismiss the notion he had suffered some type of leg injury during Sunday's AFC Championship win. "Ah, you know, there's always bumps and bruises. I'll be ready for the Super Bowl," Brady said, when asked point-blank if he had a leg injury.

Brady had a similiar ankle sprain back in 2001 in the AFC Championship game against the Steelers in which Bledsoe finished the game. Brady played in the Superbowl thereafter though. The ankle injury this time around isnt as severe supposibly so im not too worried about it.

Convienant the story breaks a day or so before the Superbowl. This kind of storybreaking always tends to break right before any major event usually like clockwork.

This could be just some disgruntled former employee looking for pub and someone to help him with his legal issues or it could be the real thing.

Obviously people who hate them want the real thing. But as of now, I'd call it convienant sensationalization.

so much heart indeed.

i can count 10 times this season the pats had a qb down for a sack, only for something like that to happen.

and ansante samuel, i hope he enjoys who ever pays him 10 mil a year, with a chance to INT that ball and it bounces off his hands, i cant even describe how much out of all the shit that happened that was the one that made me the most pissed.

the whole 19-0 thing, oh well pats will be known as the biggest chokes of all time, and brady even if he was out there playing on a broken ankle i dont care what it was just took a huge hit, greatist qb's of all time do not lose superbowls, and wether it was him or the bum offenisve cordinator, i dont know but someone needs to own up to that terrible play calling, at one point in the game with all those turn overs, including the ones that NE got but werent giving to, 7-3 with a chance to cash in, the pats call 6 straight running plays, yea you strength is passing and now your trying a change up in the biggest game of the year.

i guess being spoiled all year in a better part of 7 years changes someone, cause i normally would flip out when something like this happens, but i cant even begin to defend a single person on the pats team, i dont even know if they will win another SB under Brady, i mean they should, they have the talent but unlike before, its clear now that it isnt as easy as it once looked.

Yeah, there's no way you can hold Brady responsible. He simply didn't have enough time all game. Also he wasn't out there playing defense and had terrible field position almost all day.

The fact of the matter is the Pats were a finesse team built around the pass that got taken to school by an old fashioned defensive football team. Belichick = out schemed and straight up out coached.

Max Payne

i lied, if there is one thing i can defend is that.

i dont trust that guy, and if you saw that kick out of bounds, in a non pressure situation, then neither did belechick.

this game was lost by the pats and won by the giants on the front 4 of the giants, i said it before, and ill say it again, that is the best pass rushinh i ever seen.

and its the pats fault that they didnt do the underneath stuff until the last drive, and all they needed to do was make that sack.

One of the greatest Superbowls of all time.

Sure it didnt have the offensive sensation that some probably thought it would. But it was an old fashioned defensive struggle until the end. Both QB's come through in clutch situations. Eli escaping pressure for a miracle throw and catch.

I subsided my hate for Ole Miss tonight so I could root for 'ole Eli.

I thought a some of the Giant's offense was pretty sloppy, a lot of passes dropped that were easy catches. But they caught the ones that mattered. Brady's offense completely crumbled under the constant blitz pressure. Amazing defensive play-calling, plain and simple. The Pats were expecting a repeat of week 17, obviously. If they'd only had a video things would've ended up differently. :D

Salary cap = best thing to ever happen to the NFL.

Very true, they haven't been able to win a SB without cheating. No video taping = no ring.Again, I'm a Detroit fan, so I don't have a dog in this fight, but come on. If it was such a pervasive activity, how is it nothing came to light until now? Even if it was, you still have to be able to execute for 60 minutes against NFL-caliber talent that was good enough to get there, presumably on it's own merit and skill. "No tape = no ring" is a ridiculous stretch on many levels.

As for what anyone's "sure" of, Belichik got busted once, and now someone's coming up with a story from years ago that, conveniently enough, can't be proven, either way.

Bottom line, you've got rumor on one hand and three rings on the other. The former--and a buck fifty--will get you a cup of coffee, while the latter gets you into Gisele Bundchen's pants. In the absence of any real evidence, I know which of those I'll go with, every time.

Can't believe all the OLD sour grapes up in here when the Pats didn't even win...

The one gripe I did have with the coaching was how they decided they thought they would call a play that had Hobbs one on one with Burress with the game on the line.

With routinely getting burned all season, you would think between him and Samuel, they would give help to Hobbs in a situation like that.

People have been waiting to shit on them all season. They finally got their chance to shoot their mouths off. No different than the kind of regurgitation you see on an ESPN board loaded with trolls, haters.

That wont change and the same type of stuff will be seen next season. The sad thing is after the draft, all the offseason/free agent stuff. More than likely this organization will still be the most talked about spite the Giants winning the Superbowl.

If you ask me, I hope they go into next season under the radar much like the Colts did this season with nobody talking about them. Would be a nice change. Let ESPN drool over some other teams nads even though its pretty clear ESPN only does their job by covering them. They dont like them either, but they had to cover them.

Say what you want about the missed opportunities, the bad coaching decisions, or whatever anyone wants to say about why the Patriots lost. The fact is the Patriots got beat by a better team last night.

The Giants' D-line was incredible and Eli did what he had to. As much as I was rootin' for the Pats, you have to respect a defensive game plan that called for one thing - 'attack.' As a football fan, you have to admire what that D-line did last night.

Good for Coughlin, who took a lot of unfair shit in the off season, good for Eli for separating his name from his brother's, and good for New York fans who definitely showed up in hoards for the game. Bad for Tiki Barber.

Pats lost, but ya know what, at least it was to a good team who deserved it and wanted it more.

G-Men beat the Cowboys, Packers and Patriots to win it all...they definitely deserve every bit of credit they get.

ok, lets make it pretty clear.

the giants are not a better team, lets say, instead of avoiding that sack, and the giants are in 4th and long, and eventually lose, now the pats win. are we saying the giants were a better team? no

the pats beat the rams in 01, but that doesnt make that pat team a better team then that ram team.

however, both those winning teams made the plays they needed to make, to make them the better team on that day.

the worst part about last night, was there were several times on that last drive where the game should of been over.

and i wont lie, i didnt think the officiating was that great either. on one matt light offside call, it was clear that he was drawn offside by the defender, or that fumble were the pats clearly came up with the ball and the replies showed it only for the giants to get the ball because he stole it under the crowd. usually thats just football, but when a reply clearly shows who ended up with the ball, you cant let that happen.

I believe Amhad Bradshaw had his hand under the ball so posession was not clear cut even after they hit the ground, and if we want to talk about officiating how about Rodney Harrison continuing to wrestle with Tyree on the ground after that amazing catch so he could waste time off the clock. Why do you think Steve Smith ran in there? trying to pull that cheap shot artist off his teammate.

As for the better team, well all that matters is who is the better team in the big show, and the better team was the one hoisting the Lombardi trophy this year.

Wow, I read a few articles today and with all due respect to the Giants' win...

Is it just me, or are the Patriots being more humble about being upset than the Giants are about winning?

Some serious motormouths on that Giants team, I guess. You'd think they would realize that they were the better team last night, but it isn't like they went out and pounded the Pats, like they're acting like they did.

It's OK - the lightning will likely be out of the bottle in 2009, and for the Pats, everyone knows they're not going anywhere.

Congrats, G-Men. Now pray you don't get a repeat SB in 2009, because ya'll are offering some fantastic bulletin board material.

Expected a little more class out of this team. It isn't like the Patriots gloated about their record...everything was media driven. They need to chill and just celebrate without acting like a bunch of unable-to-handle-winning-with-class clowns.

People have accused the Pats of being a classless organization for about 2-3 years now yet when other organizations act the same way, they get a free pass.

In other words, people are allowed to regurgitate shit about the Pats but when the door swings the other way, everyone is supposed to be mute.

Inevietably when you talk enough shit, somewhere in there your gonna get your end of the satisfaction which many people did last night. Just doesnt happen all the time. Now the majority of Pats fans can be arrogant but so are half the fans of other fanbases, its all relative.

I suppose in the end, the term 'classless' has become another overused word. Maybe every organization or players of the organization dont display some form of composure. Maybe these players are all just gloating over the moment. Maybe they arent, in the end its all relative.

Agreed with Kicker and 3six' the season did go by quickly. But there is the draft and preseason in 6 months so I can hang. I can't wait to see what happens with free agency and the draft. Plus there is still the pro bowl next week. Maybe the NFC will win that too :D

thats what I'm talkin' 'bout. for some reason no other sports excite me more than football. Yea I like Baseball and Basketball, but watchin' Football is totally different. I'll watch other sports but I'm lookin' forward to the draft and preseason. And yea def. can't wait to see what happens in the Free Agency department. I'll catch the Pro Bowl if I remember... I just wish Sean Taylor was alive and gonna be there so he can jack up another punter haha.

amen to that..just like the NBA allstar weekend, i always forget about the probowl..

offseason is always enterataing..so far though its been shitty, from a LIons fan vview point, KJs career is basicly over, they cut shaun rogers, fired mike martz, and then hired the O-Line coach(the lions O line is by far one of the worste in L..maybe in football) to replace him as the offensive cooridnator..:die:

Yes they are the better team, they dominated NE and exposed what was the biggest bust in NFL history. 18-0 loses to an NFC wildcard team, easily the biggest upset of all time. The Patriots had the better regular season and The Giants had the better post season.

The Patriots beat the Giants a month ago, so lets put it in perspective.

The Giants played better on the day it counted most, but it doesnt make them a better team. That is obvious.

The best team isnt always the team that wins, its the one that plays the best during that game, not just the players but also the coaching and the playcalls.

And the death of a dynasty?

These Giants are retards if they think that, the Pats will be the odds on favorite to win next year, while I bet the Giants strugle to make the playoffs again. The Pats are a bounced ball off Samuels hands, or a sack on Manning from being 4 time champs. People need to lay off with that crap.

also, highest rated SB, not a surprise. Giant fans will claim because of the NY market, which did play a part, but a undefeated season on the line, combined with New England and the people who always watch it, its not surprising at all.

Gonna have to, the DB suck as it is.

I dont want people to think Im having sour grapes over this loss, I think its clear I handled it better then a few others here have over the years.

Just having the game in hand, only to let the other team drive 80 yards were the game should of been done on atleast two plays on that drive really makes it an awuful feeling.

Brady played bad compared to being Brady, and if the Pats won, he would of been the MVP, his numbers werent outstanding, and Welker did tie the SB record for catches, but Brady would of had another game winning drive in the SB and it would of sealed it for him, that sucks.

But I dont see anyone blaming Gisele for this, or the fact that Brady was dancing around NY in a boot when he should of been in Boston with the team.

He needs to own some of this like everyone else.

My guess is a huge amount of it is due to a combination of hoping the Pats lose and seeing an underdog win, which can also be seperated as two things.

he isnt. but clearly even though the pressure was there, he had a ton of missed balls, tons of floaters, or dives to the ground.

dont know what was wrong, but that is two games in a row. too bad, if they won that game, he would of been considered the best qb of all time at the end of his career.

Brady wasnt to blame completely. Blame the coaching staff. Belichick was outcoached by Tom Coughlin and it showed. After it being obvious from the first couple of plays, the coaching staff should've realized playing a staightup passing game against that 4 man rush wasnt going to cut it. As a result, the Pats werent in rhythm all night long except for the last drive when it appeared the Giants front 4 finally started to get tired.

And Brady probably wouldnt have been the MVP. Wes Welker would probably have won making him the second WR in Pats history to win an MVP.

Anway, offseason wish list if your a Pat fan.

1. Draft a DB over 6 ft, too undersized in that secondary
2. Draft a LB, even if hes only going to see limited reps on Defense
3. Cut your losses, Samuel is probably gone and while I would like them to keep Stallworth because hes still explosive with the ball in his hands. They'll probably cut ties with him and work with Moss. As well as take your chances in developing Chad Jackson into a decent WR while giving Kelley Washington more reps.

4. Seau will probably come back, Bruschi maybe but one of these guys needs limited reps. The LB core really got hurt when Colvin went down because the depth went with it and it gave guys like Bruschi/Seau too many reps.

5. Draft an impact pass rusher, whether its DE, DT or LB. Their pass rush is so inept and it showed all year. They never could generate pressure with just their front 4. They always played safe defenses and blitzed rarely because they didnt want to expose anyone in the secondary.

6. RB depth will probably still be good between Faulk, Maroney and a returning Sammy Morris who really was their powerback. His loss was probably the most forgotten loss early in the season but it hurt. The power running game went with it. Maroney and Faulk are good explosive runners but Morris was that power game that was sorely lacking for a long time.

7. Worse comes to worse, in the secondary. Move Meriweather to CB, let Samuel go and have Sanders as your other starter.

Agreed.

But "The Escape" is what people are going to remember forever.

I do agree,great play!

But I do have to ask when is in the grasp actually in the grasp?
The NFL has set it up to protect the QB's with this rule and defenders know it,often times letting up rather than hitting the QB,after getting a hold of him,and avoiding a penalty and fine.

steelba is still jelous of a SB losing team, quite possibly the saddest thing going around here.

if you make accusations, you should at the very least know what your talking about.

Brady said the Monday following the SD win that he wasnt going to the pro bowl, Moss I have no idea about, but it has been speculated that he is hurt.

Ellis Hobb is going into surgery for groin and hernia pulls, and this is the first anyone has known about any injuries, so when it comes to Pat players, we simply dont know whats happening with them.

Everyone knows, that everyone wants the pro bowl invite, and no one wants to play in it.

Datsyuk, 29
Zetterberg, 27
Filppula, 23
Kronwall, 26
Lebda, 25
Hudler, 24

A lot of vets, sure, but the "old wings" knock isn't as true as it used to be. They've got young guys coming into their own right now and have shown a consistent ability to succeed in the salary cap era after years of free-wheeling spending.

This is no "the time is now" team.

You have to excuse a bitter hawks fan for being a little bit exagerative, we in chicago have been saying the wings are gonna hit the wall for some time now. What I meant was that at the moment I believe that the Wings still have a softer division. I don't consider STL, NSH, the BJ's, or my own hawks as solid teams, I'm not saying the Wings are going to go 0-82 anytime soon, I'm just saying that the rest of the division is starting to get good talent as well.

Looks like Chad will probably be sent packing. Hes a good reciever, but I think his rep of being of top tier reciever took afew hits. Especially with his act with the probowl.

Cincy is in a state of chaos. Afew years ago they go from being a potential up and coming team to the predictable slouches they've been throughout most of their history.

I think this will be the last year for Marvin at the helm in 08 because hes had only two decent seasons in his tenure with a roster full of players getting busted regularly.

Superbowl was an interesting. I dont think I've ever seen Brady on his back or hit as many times as he was in that game. MVP of that game should've been the Giants front 4. I aint no Pats fan but theres no denying without that pressure without the need to blitz, the Pats offense probably doesnt end the game with 14 points.

Pats aint going nowhere, too much talent on that squad for them to go away into the sunset. I hope they lose in the playoffs again next season and keep the current 3 year tradition going but I still respect what they can do.

AFC North will be a tougher division next year. I hope Cincy can pull their heads outta their asses cause both the Steelers and the Browns will probably be good.
