It's been reported that Heath did Abuse Drugs, but has been clean for over a year. I wonder if this is like Eddie Gurerro's death, where despite being clean for over 4 years the side affect of drugs and abuse took it's toll enough to where he had an un-expected Heart Attack.

I wouldnt go that far, Brandon Lee died under unusual circumstances, and similar to the way his father portrayed a character in a movie. Ledge possiby killed himself. Ledger also has been a steady actor, Lee did some shitty movies before hand.

The more I think about this the more I feel like Ledger's passing is probably the most devastating celebrity passing for me possibly ever - right up there with Debra Hill.
I was just so excited to see him as The Joker because I felt like it was going to propel his career into the "he can play anything" category. He was fantastic in The Patriot and I thought Brokeback Mountain was an amazing film as well.
A true tragedy for anyone who loves and appreciates the art of acting in film. The guy also seemed like a class act and someone who really spent time picking what was right for him as an actor.
RIP, Heath Ledger. I can't wait to see you truly go out with a bang in "The Dark Knight."

Well one thing is clear, he had the talent and no reason to think over the next 30 to 40 years he couldn't of put together a resume that would of been great.
This only a week after Brad Renfro, but that one was obviously a lot less shocking and you can see the differance in media coverage when one has a career and the other does not.

A soilder in my town passed away and they where coming to protest his funeral. The biker group that goes to them all wouldn't allow it they said. Anyway, the town had to give in to let them protest but gave them a spot about 1/4 mile away, and our mayor specifically told them that we are a small town and wouldnt have any police to protect them since they where all at the funeral. Well when there van showed up to let them out, and they saw the crowd ready to kill them, they turned right around and left.

Fred Phelps and his family run The Westboro Baptist Church. They claim they've discovered the true God, a God who dosn't love you no matter what. They believe God demands you to serve, like a Tyrant, and that humans have to obey there maker at all costs. The kicker is that despite a world of torturing people, raping people, murder, all these evil things, they believe so heartidly Homosexuality is the worst sin of all.
I was actully expecting something like this would happen since they have numerously shown pics of Brockback Moutain as a means to prove ther "Fag America" views and how America is doomed for letting Homosexuals thrive.
Persionally, stuff like this is why I claim no one faith anymore.

You often hear that Actors have a hard time shaking a character, do you think it was the case?
From IMDB
The Joker's character is based on his first two appearances in the comic books, as well as his portrayal in the graphic novel "The Killing Joke." To prepare for the role, Heath Ledger lived alone in a hotel room for a month researching the character and developing his performance, which he claims is based upon Sid Vicious and the character of Alex in A Clockwork Orange (1971). Ledger found the role extremely difficult, and suffered insomnia as a result.

-Not sure where this came from, my friend posted it in a bulletin. Turns out Phelps wasn't the only douchebag who mocked Heath's death.
"The radical Baptist church known for picketing the funerals of American soldiers who lost their lives in Iraq has announced that they intend to protest Heath Ledger’s stateside memorial service because he played a gay character in “Brokeback Mountain.”
“You cannot live in defiance of God. He (Ledger) got on that big screen with a big, fat message: God is a liar and it's OK to be gay,” said Shirley Phelps in a statement sent out by the Topeka, Kan.-based Westboro Baptist Church.
The only compelling reason to ignore Westboro Baptist’s reprehensible intentions is that highlighting the vast inappropriateness of their thoughts and actions only brings the church more publicity. However, if the members of Westboro Baptist get to speak their minds, every individual who feels that this is an affront to most basic standards of human ethics should be able to as well.
“Wow, that should make his family feel great,” one person close to Ledger said angrily in response to the announcement. “I seriously don’t understand what is wrong with people. This is the last thing his family needs.”
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) told me, “We sincerely hope that Heath Ledger is laid to rest and his family is allowed to grieve in a private and peaceful ceremony.”
On Jan. 22, GLAAD said that “Heath Ledger will forever be remembered for his groundbreaking role as Ennis del Mar in ‘Brokeback Mountain.’ His powerful portrayal changed hearts and minds in immeasurable ways.” Those close to Ledger agree. But moreover, those close to him want Ledger to be remembered as a man who loved his family and appreciated the career he’d had.
To be fair, the people of the Westboro Baptist Church aren’t the only ones displaying poor taste. Fox News’ John Gibson on Jan. 22 opened his radio show with funeral music and mocked a signature line from “Brokeback,” saying, “Well, he found out how to quit you.” (When Gibson was contacted to explain his comments, he declined.)
Enough is enough. It’s time to move past personal opinion and far-right-wing reactionaries and at the very least, show respect for a family that’s coping with a terrible loss.
This column will begin moving forward Friday, but the impact of a Heath Ledger — a great actor, respected friend and doting dad — will not be forgotten."

-Not sure where this came from, my friend posted it in a bulletin. Turns out Phelps wasn't the only douchebag who mocked Heath's death.Nope, FOX News' John Gibson got in on the act on his radio show:
Opening his radio show with funeral music yesterday, Fox News host John Gibson callously mocked the death of actor Heath Ledger, calling him a “weirdo” with a “serious drug problem.”
Playing an audio clip of the iconic quote, “I wish I knew how to quit you” from Ledger’s gay romance movie Brokeback Mountain, Gibson disdainfully quipped, “Well, he found out how to quit you.” Laughing, Gibson then played another clip from Brokeback Mountain in which Ledger said, “We’re dead,” followed by his own, mocking “We’re dead” before playing the clip again. (link) (http://thinkprogress.org/2008/01/23/gibson-mocks-ledger/)After catching hell for it, Gibson defended his decision as "just “a little Brokeback Mountain joke” and there is “no point in passing up a good joke.”

Heath Ledger's death was a shock to all.. very upset that this happened. He was a great actor and took his roles to the limit. For the role CANDY he lived and studied with a herion addicted for several months to get the sence of this sort of addiction. For someone who lives in Chicago ,you would often see him skate boarding after the set closed in full Joker getup on lower Waker Drive all hours of the night ..alone, it was an awesome sight. Not being able to sleep and depession and anxiety are tremendous ailments to endure. The Chicago bloggers here saw him several times in Chicago nightclubs drinking nothing but water. At the end of the movie ,at the cast party at Carnivale ,he was drunk and celebrating....so what he deserved to party, the movie was rapped up. Deep person, caring father, good friend and some emotion problems...aweful end to a young great actor.......I will miss him. R.I.P

Ledger had no history of drug abuse. Reporters cited a stint he did in rehab a year or two ago, but he was actually there preparing for his role in Candy. His overdose was most likely a result of taking one pill too many for his severe insomnia he suffered from after shooting The Dark Knight, or perhaps a lethal combination with another drug. If he was an actual addict, he may very well have survived, knowing how to dose himself.
John Gibson did what he did because he hated Ledger for starring in Brokeback Mountain. It's that simple. Homophobia is such an ugly thing.

The guy died from an overdose. I'd consider that a drug user. Can't really get around that one. Glad he didn't have a "history of drug abuse," though.
My point was that Ledger had options. I'll re-state: He was in a position to get any kind of medical help to combat whatever ailed him. Instead, he chose to self-medicate and - quite by mistake - end his own life. Gibson is an ass regardless, but again; he was just doing what he does.

If you want to go that route then blame Ledger.
You make it sound like he was a coke abuser. Like he deserved to die, like the kid deserves to be fatherless. Like the kid is now better off without a junkie dad.
When in reality all he really did wrong was make the mistake of self medication.
As far as being cross with gibson goes, I'll take a talented troubled movie star over a selfrightious bigot any day.
Jack is talking about taking the role of joker, cause he said it messed him up too.
Nicholson Misquoted on Ledger Warning
Hollywood veteran Jack Nicholson insists stories claiming he warned Heath Ledger about the dangers of sleeping pills are not true - stating he never even met the tragic star. The Departed legend was asked how he felt about the Brokeback Mountain actor's death last month by photographers in London and he was quoted as saying, "I told him so." However, the 70-year-old star, whose role as the Joker in Batman was reprised by Ledger in The Dark Knight just before his death, states he was misquoted and was simply warning everyone against using that brand of pills. He says, "What I actually said was, 'I warned them.' I had a bad experience with those sleeping pills (that Ledger apparently took). I took one of these pills and had just gone to sleep when I had a phone call to go to an emergency at a friend's house. I jumped up, went outside and some time later woke up on the driveway. It sounds amusing but I live in the mountains and it could of been worse. I didn't know Heath Ledger, but I know those pills." Ledger was found dead in his New York apartment last month at the age of 28. An autopsy failed to reveal the cause of death, and police are still awaiting the results of a toxicology test to asses if sleeping pills found in his apartment played a part in his death.

I thought The Joker was based on a silent movie 'The Man Who Laughs' which was a movie based on a novel of Victor Hugo's? I forget the name. Or maybe he disregarded that.
well, the Joker's first appearance in the comics was based off of TMWL, but the mood and personality wasn't.

Well, you get the bigot. The movie star is dead.
