I assume by 'Euro' you mean the Italian version...

The Italian cut has all the humor/slapstick bits removed as far as I know.

As for which one is better, I actually prefer the 'Director's Cut' over the theatrical and Italian versions even though the 'Director's Cut' isn't really Romero's preferred version.

If you can, just rent the Ultimate Edition which has all three versions and start with the U.S. theatrical....

The perfect strategy... I wouldn't even bother renting it, I'd just buy it... and I did...

I own the Director's cut and Argento's on VHS. The best is the theatrical cut, which ofcoarse I don't own :(
But i'll snag the thetrical cut on DVD, the other 2 are old vhs versions.

All versions are good dependng on what you want.

Theatrical is what it is. The Directors Cut is more or less an extended version of the Theatrical cut and the Euro cut is a more toned down, humorless version of the theatrical cut.

I have the ultimate edition signed....but I have not watched the other versions. I may check argento's since he cut the humor, which I may prefer.

I'm fine with the one I just bought on DVD. I dont think it has the directors cut.

Yeah, he helped fund the film and is responsible for the soundtrack (Goblin be his homeboys). He also got the European rights, the right to distribute and edit the film as he saw fit for the EU market.
His name is on the begining credits of Dawn of the Dead.

I like the European cut for the footage that neither the theatrical cut or the director's cut have. Seeing all 3 is the way to go.

I gotta pick myself the Ultimate edition set. Hopefully when my folks cross over the pond next month they can bring it back for me.

Pre-ordered it like a month in advance. Easily the best horror DVD release thus far.
