First fox news attacks mass effect for it's "explicit" sex scene and how it "objectifies" women, now somehow the spin a story about how people staying indoors is hurting nature into an attack on video games.Have they no more important news to report?Fox news reminds me of some fucking high school newspaper that publishes gossip and bullshit that no one fucking cares about.

Fox news reminds me of some fucking high school newspaper that publishes gossip and bullshit that no one fucking cares about.I'm no booster for Fox, but it looks like this was a story from the Associated Press wire, not some in-house hit piece.

With that in mind, the "may" in the title is the operative word. The fact is, the years where video games ascended to popularity did see a corresponding decrease in outdoor recreation. The exact relationship between those two events is up for--and probably warrants--a discussion.

As for the researchers' belief:
Declining nature participation has crucial implications for current conservation efforts," wrote co-authors Oliver R. W. Pergams and Patricia A. Zaradic. "We think it probable than any major decline in the value placed on natural areas and experiences will greatly reduce the value people place on biodiversity conservation."Think about the underlying principle there: The less you value a thing, the less value you see in efforts supportive of it.

It makes intuitive sense, and you need look no further than the larger video game issue to see it borne out: Who is less supportive of the fight against video game censorship than the politicians and pundits to whom video games mean less than nothing?

"now somehow the spin a story about how people staying indoors is hurting nature into an attack on video games"

Yeah because you know staying inside your house playing games is more harmful to the enviornment than driving your car around the city for 3 hours. Pathetic.

People are going to do what they want to do. A news report isn't going to change much imo

"Declining nature participation" can be caused by more then video games.
