I applied to the Florida State Uni Film School in December, and they just called me last week setting up an interview, saying they'd chosen my interview (and 59 others) from a group of about 250-300 applications. And after each one-on-one interview, they will chose 30 of the 60 and those will be the new class of film students. This film school is very important to me, and since i've already beat the odds, I don't want to screw everything up with the interview process. So can any of you film gurus or smart UHMers give me some pointers on questions they might ask or just advice in general. Maybe what kind of attire I should use, etc. Anything will be appreciated. Thanks for the help! (By the way, the interview is Sunday Feb. 17th and 5 pm.
My guess is they'll ask you big picture questions. Stuff like...why do you want to go to film school? What do you think you can learn from film school? What is your focus? Etc. But it wouldn't hurt to be able to geek-out if needed. I would suggest you have a clear idea of why you want to be there and what YOU have to offer the program. (And of course be able to articulate that) Be able to tell them why you want to go to THEIR school instead of another film program.
Most important thing I think is to be able to sit there and discuss. And for god sake...ask them questions. Make a list of questions before you walk in there, and read them off if needed. Nothing worse than someone who sits there and has nothing to add...someone who isn't the slightest bit curious. The interview goes both ways. They ask you questions...you ask them questions.
Good luck.

FSU eh?
I wish you all the luck. Listen to RIP. I've known him for a long time now and he does give the best advice.
FSU is a great school. Nearly every film that I have ever received from FSU has been an exceptional film and has gotten excepted into the Chicago Horror Film Festival. In fact, the last festival I exchanged many emails their film department, complementing them on the talent they produce.
I hope all goes well, and I hope to see one of your films come my way some time soon.

I took some classes at New York Film Academy in LA and while it wasn't an interview per se, they asked me some questions over the phone I wasn't prepared for. They asked what my favorite movie was and why, where I saw myself in the film industry in 5 years, and why I chose their campus.
Good luck!

Wow! thanks for all the feedback guys.
So just for the record, I think I pretty much screwed things up. Everything was going well, until they asked me about things like what kind of script would I produce and what not. I was just upfront and honest about the fact that i'm really not that good with writing stories and or screenplays, and if I were to write a script it would probably be unoriginal at best. Everything else seemed to go smoothly, but I figured they'd understand that I would want to specialize in areas other than writing.

They understand that. I applied for Columbia in Hollywood, and was nervous as fuck. Thought i screwed up, and the guy even said to me after that I was good. I know thats not as hard to get into as FSU is, so I wish you luck.

how long do you have to wait to hear anything?

I hear back by March 10th at the latest, and I talked to some students after the interview, and several were students who got deferred (sp?) and then got accepted because some students chose not to go to the school, so I guess I still have that going for me if I don't get in.

I am a graphic designer, however haven't been persuing my dream for a while now, I have worked closely with Media in the past and come to realize that this is where my heart is, I am in London planning to do a short term fim making course and coz I'd love to be a part of a film, an short term acting course. Your suggestions will be truly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

:mecry:
I guess there's always next year...
Although they have a rule saying they accept "20-25 freshmen" and "5-10 transfers" so now my chances are even less. But I feel pretty confident about the mistakes I learned from during last year's interview.
