dreadcentral can be full of shit, I dont care who the resource is.

EDIT: Maybe my bad Reuters is pretty liabel

What ticks me off is that the writer makes it seem like a comet is heading for China and is going to ruin it.
If they want a safer country before the Olympics I am all for it.
Even if it is for blocking horror movies or merchandise.

china is not going to ban horror movies....

Thanks for settling that, I was worried at first but now that you've said its not going to happen I can rest easy.

I really don't care if it's true or not, or if it actually happens, aslong as they continue to make those Category III sleaze-fests that I love them for then I'm happy.

Misfit's got connections

If it's true, hopefully it'll only be a temporary thing, but it's not like that's going to stop the sale of horror movies in China, anyway.

Talk about your misplaced efforts. Not only is it pointless, but it makes them look like a laughingstock, with the massive machine of the Chinese government focusing its efforts on "wronged spirits and violent ghosts, monsters, demons, and other inhuman portrayals."

Whether it's true or not, I'm just thankful nothing like this could go over in America (despite some people's efforts).

And Hong Kong is a part of what country? What country rules Hong Kong... drum-roll please... dudududaaaah... CHINA!!! It was a British-run untill the lease ran out in 1997, then it became, once again, a part of China.

So... given that Hong Kong is a part of China, I'm curious... what's your point?

You are smart enough to know that hong kong was given to the chinese.
So check the differences between the two now.
I am sure when you do, you will find the phrase "one country, two systems" will come about. Want me to get into the details?

I know there is a plenty of autonomy with HK from China... just giving you a bit of shit, man. Joking doesn't always come through properly in text... my bad.

However that being said, I will say that if China wanted to put the clamp on HK's nuts, they could do so at the drop of a hat... Even though HK is a part of China, they let HK get away with a lot because it's a major money-maker... but if HK got too uppety? China would lock them down with a quickness.

As far as this particular situation is concerned, it doesn't say one way or the other whether or not HK falls under this new Horror ban... if the situation is true, then it's very possible that the new ban applies to HK as well. I'd certainly hope that's not the case... I love HK horror... but it is a possibility.

I'll take that as you have nothing worthwhile to say... and thus you are not worth wasting my time on. Have a nice day.

China has really been cracking down on the internet at large for a while, too. They want to present the best image they can for the Olympic games.

Normally it's the Olympic committee making free speech illegal during the games. But any good nanny state also needs to watch out for free speech.

actually the policy i think you referring to is called the one china policy and its between mainland china and taiwan"One China" appears to be the older (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-China_policy), base notion, while the "Two Systems" addendum came later (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_country%2C_two_systems) and refers to the relationship with both Taiwan and Hong Kong.Normally it's the Olympic committee making free speech illegal during the games. Britain kow tows to China as athletes are forced to sign no criticism contracts (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=513362&in_page_id=1770&ct=5)

Nice find Grendel. The Olympics should be slightly more comedic than normal this year.

"So, gold medal track winner that only three people care about. How are you liking Beijing?"

".... The food is, uh, authentic oriental."

That's pretty dumb. Never once have I watched a horror movie or seen someone watch a horror movie and say "Hey that's a great idea! I think I'm gonna turn into a monster and destroy a neighborhood!" Well... at least Japan isn't following suit.
