View Full Version : TCM 2, what the fuck was Tobe Hooper thinking?

Ok, I wasnt a fan of the first film at all, but I give Hooper credit for the leatherface chase scene at the end was very intense.

This film, I dont know what the fuck he was thinking other than 'money, money, money' but jesus christ, who the hells bullshit concept was this?

The first flick was serious and pretty gritty, this one is like the bastard prequel to the 'Scary movie' series.

Leatherface a horny, retard? Chop top was the twin brother of the hitchiker from the first film? Dont expect to find that out during the film, gotta hit wikipedia for that info, because nothing is explained at all in this film. Why are they living in an undergroudn abandoned amusement park? Why is this film a comedy when the first was a horror? How come the stupid cannibals go through all the trouble of collecting dead bodies to decoratre their place for the first place? and Why is Dennis Hopper in this film?

The chainsaw duel is excuciating to watch, as is the film itself. I mean seriously, was there anyone who liked this film? I gotta know, because even though this shit pre-dates Uwe Boll, its fucking on par with his shit!

I didn't hate it. I remember when I first saw it when I was young, the scene when they go after the DJ gal in the radio station was pretty scary.

Edit: Haven't seen this in about 7 or 8 years either, so I dunno how I really feel about it.

Wrathborne
02-21-2008, 01:32 AM
yeah I know he was Franklins Uncle, they did show Franklins mangled skeletal remains still there in a touching scene that felt like it came from another movie. But for the most part this really was 'hap hazard' film making, not my thing.

Some of my fav films?

The silence of the lambs
Night of the living dead
Jaws
Dawn of the dead
Poltergeist
Evil Dead
Evil dead 2
Army of darkness
Psycho
Dracula(1931)
Frankenstein(1932)
the eye(1998)
Shaun of the dead
the Wolfman(1941)
the house of haunted hill(original with Vincent Price)
Halloween(1978)
the thing(1981)
Invasion of the body snatchers(original)
The Fly(1986? version)

Some class, some crass, and some schlock.
You will notice there is no Eli Roth, James Wan, Argento, Boll, Hooper, Ratner, Schumacher, or Paul W.S Anderson films on my list. I'm proud of that and intend to keep my list that way.

Fuck you man. TCM 2 is the shit.

Bill Mosely acting crazy, Dennis Hopper with a giant chainsaw, Jim Siedow babbling about... stuff. Should have won an Oscar.

Seriously, one of my favorite horror films.

L-L-L-Lick my plate, you dog dick!

I liked the film, but hated the whole sensitive Leatherface crap. It just seemed like an excuse to keep the chick alive :dsp:

Oh, how correct you are fair sir, forgive me for voicing an opinion that differed from yours on a forum made public my computers who's screens gleam on the faces of nerds , nerdettes, goobers, goobettes and the empty boxes of the candy titled 'nerds' and 'Goobers'!

Oh! Woe is me for trying to express myself, thank you for correcting me! I see the light! I now understand the beauty of a trudging tard who's pecker is is saw, and who's libido has gone unnoticed for a 12 year gap in the films astoundingly eventful chronology! I understand the passion that a man who dresses like a 1930's cowboy and swings chainsaws like a baby swings a hammer and courts young rock jocks who are molested by chainsaw weilding tards and their scab eating brother's whose teeth glisten with the brown putridness of a rotten egg!

For I was incorrect, I worship this film! It's now well earned 'B +' score has elevated my opinion of humanity! Surely you wont keep this skill of pursuesion all to yoruself?! Quickly! To the middle east, you can save that part of the world within mere seconds with your eloquence and poetic abilities!

There is too much at stake, make haste before Jesus beats you too it! Make haste!

Wow, what a tour de force. I didn't know a simple "fuck you" could bring out such an audacious creative force. Bravo.

It's a black comedy. Not exactly meant to be analyzed to such a degree. Hooper wanted to make a fun gore film with some of the more outlandish aspects from the original. I think he succeeded.

Well there you go. You can't look at it as a piece of art, it's just a TCM sequel that's fucked up. It's a bad B movie that's fun to watch.

Thought it was great! The coathanger thing was really creepy, great gore as well. Though I agree with you that the location makes no sense.

Part III is alot better IMO.

It's a b movie that set out to make you laugh and it does it's job. Clearly when I was 16 I really liked this movie and decided to use part of it as my handle.

Pretty horrid movie. Havent seen it in a couple years.

Only one I havenT seen alltogether was 3 but the bit pieces I saw with Foree I enjoyed.

Outta all of them I would say even the mediocre remake in 2003 was better than this pile IMO but the prequel was better IMO.

Excluding Part 3 because I havent seen it all.

In order

TCM 74 -last 20 minutes are gold
TCM The Beginning - cut and dry funner than the 03 Remake
TCM 03 - better than Generation and 2 IMO
TCM The Next Generation
TCM 2

I like TCM 2....not at all as brilliant as the original....sorry wrath, the original WAS the original. Almost every slasher since has stolen sequences from it...Tobe knew what was up back then. Now he's a fucktool.

I don't like the original TCM, it's boring. And possibly the most gory un-gory movie ever.

I've often wondered the same thing about TCM 2. But I have to admit, when I was 15 the chainsaw-rubbing-the-leg scene helped me through some lonely times. :eyebrow:

Why are they living in an undergroudn abandoned amusement park?
You'd have to find a place to hide all your crazy cannibal family's shit if one of your victims escaped and would obviously go to the police. It fits with the over top nature of the rest of the film. I haven't seen the original film in ages, do they make any reference to a carnival/amusement park being in the area? If so, makes sense that they'd go to a remote location like that.

Why is this film a comedy when the first was a horror?
The idea inherent in the film is incredibly over the top, so they play it up as such? It's a sequel, they just played up the dark humor aspects of the first flick to the nth degree

How come the stupid cannibals go through all the trouble of collecting dead bodies to decoratre their place for the first place?
They're based on Ed Gein (read up on him), and it makes for visually creepy setting and characters.
Also: they were using them in their meatshop, and would have to do something with all the left over parts. They're too poor to get anything else. I'm pretty sure the 'father' character talks about how their business has suffered.

Why is Dennis Hopper in this film?
He was cast as the uncle of a character from the first film
Same reason he's in any film, he was cast in it.

I had to come back to the forums to rip this post real quick.

Anyone who thinks TCM 2 is worse than The Next Generation is not a horror fan and needs to get their head examined.

TCM2 is the second best in the series, that is all.

Guess im not a horror fan according to slayer player.

:appl:

Only thing I liked about TCM 2 was Jim Siedow, everything else was pretty horrid. Especially the set locations as others have mentioned.

Next Generation isnt much better but atleast it had some elements of the original despite all the pitiful performances IMO.

Leather in drag was one of the many problems that film had. What I was getting at was the more sheer brutal nature of the film much like the original was. Very grimmy and no bs. TCM 2 for me outside of Siedow and his rants was too much comedy and not enough raw feel. All that said, the Next Generation is a comedy in itself as it tries to be serious but ends up being laughable.

Both films are probably equally bad IMO but Next Generation is slightly and put I the emphasis on slightly better.
