This is actually pretty old news, but I wasn't made aware of it until today while doing research on an anime I just started watching. Those who watch anime probably watched one of Geneon Entertainment's releases over the years, especially considering they've released great series like Gungrave, Ai yori aoshi, Tenjho tenge, Black Lagoon, Appleseed, Hellsing; just to name a few.

Apparently last year the company released a statement that they would cease the production and distribution of US anime titles, supposedly because they were losing more money than making it. This essentially left those of us watching certain titles halfway through the series. I'm half way through Black Lagoon (3 volumes) and always wondered why volume 4 was never released, and now I know why.

I thought I'd pass this information along in case anyone were interested in catching some new anime that Geneon last released, because you'll likely never finish it (unless you get the fansubs); at least until Geneon sells the rights to another distributor.

Shame, they had alot of great titles. I know they were in talks with both ADV and Funimation about selling their stuff, but one of them fell through(can't remember which one). Hopefully another company will pick up their titles soon, and hopefully this isn't a sign of bad things to come for anime distro here in the States.
