new NIN CD was released On Sunday (3-2-08). Nine Inch Nails first CD without a record label. You can go to NIN.com and download the free 9 track CD, pay $5 and get the 36 track CD, and the prices go up from there. pay $300 and gt a set autographed by trent himself.

I downloaded the free set right now, and found the 36 tracks for DL somewhere else. I will def. pay for the tracks though!

hell yes!

PS: music only - no lyrics

Will prob go for the set on physical cd with immediate download.

Whatever the case, I like the business model on display, here. All types of consumers are covered, from free to uber-fan. I also like the idea of physical copies being available for a rather reasonable price.

Nice! can't wait to listen to it.I just can't help thinking that - lyrically - this may be my favorite NIN album by a very wide margin.

I'm vaguely curious. Part of me wonders if this might sound like Chris Vrenna's score to Alice but merely twice as long. (Never played the game, but love the score.)

The reviews at Amazon are kind of lacking as well. "I'm still downloading it. OMG 5 Stars!" "I've listened to a third of it while reading a book. OMG 5 Stars!" "I like Trent! He's sexy! OMG 5 Stars!" That's not really a reflection of the band. It's just difficult to get an honest assessment of what the whole album is about.

Sheesh. I want to go review it in the name of all UHM as follows: "I like music and this was very musical. Most of it I loved but I didn't like some slow spots. I give it 7/10."

I'm curious enough that I may download the free stuff and/or hit the "Preview All" button at Amazon. Near as I'm concerned, Chuck D truly pioneered the MP3 label back in the late 90s, too. But, I'll try to give it an honest listen.

I'm a little bit confused about your post here, I'm guessing that first remark is a sarcastic one, but are you actually considering giving this a listen through? If I remember you weren't a NIN fan when Year Zero came out and I remember you expressed your feelings pretty well on NIN. Or are you more or less commenting on the dumb reviews people leave, a problem that spreads the board when it comes to user reviews on anything.

NIN suck!!!

I would expect such a shallow post from somone who roots for the Detroit Lions and Red Wangs...:D

I did hit the Listen button at Amazon. Not the buy, but the listen to samples. There's a lot more in the genre that I like better - such as the score to Alice mentioned earlier. There's also a wide Japanese noise scene which affords me the fix for some of the harsher stuff. There's also Stratos, whose stuff has run through the same ranges for a long time. That's what I'm reminded of: the CyberNet album with a higher production value.

So here goes. Probably my favorite NIN album, but nothing I haven't heard before from others in the genre. If I was stuck in a car with a Trent-worshipping friend and this album materialized, I would even possibly enjoy it.

So, fuck it. Best album Trent has ever been a part of, but I'm not buying it. I give it 7/10.

Im giving this a very thorough listen. It is great background music, nothing heavy...very melodic. Reminiscent of some of the quieter songs on album The Fragile. Although, some are very experimental and distracting (loud, with teeth/year zero sounding) for the most part it calms the listener down greatly. This music does not reflect his past music, where it can be loud and fast, but a calmer side.

If you sit down and listen to all the songs, weed out the louder, distracting ones, you could, very well have a nice evening with a book and mp3 player, and relax.

was that too gay? lol. its better than the "OMG ORGASM REZNOR IS GOD" reviews.

It looks better than 99% of the reviews at Amazon. You should actually go repost there. Your input would do any interested parties and the album a huge favor.

I bought "Things Falling Apart" and "The Downward Spiral" a couple of years ago, never liked them, and were sitting in my collection, collecting dust. Sold them on Ebay a couple of weeks ago.
