I haven't watched an anime yet i didn't like. The very first one i saw was macross 2 when i was 14 then i became hooked after that the record on the lodus war.

Not sure if this has been recommended before, but you guys should really check out Requiem From Darkness:

It's basically about a worthless, naive wannabewriter accompanying this mysterious group of a pseudo-monk, puppet-master and old kabuki actor. He gets swept into nasty stuff along with them, because their job is to kill serial killers/other sort of sick individuals (cannibalism, necrophilia, pyromania) in a karmic manner, bringing their sins alive. Most intersecting themes in these crimes seem to be that they somehow connect to the supernatural world.

I find it to be one of my favorite shows because although it doesnt show much more gore/nudity than what we usually see in animes, it manages to make you feel really shocked and disgusted by just how frigging evil all that stuff is. Thats the main theme about the show in general, exposed human evil and insanity.

It can be bit confusing at times but otherwise its a great if bit short series with a rushed ending. It's a straight novel to anime-adaptation, so you can't find any mangas, and I doubt its original novel title has been released outside of Japan. Too bad theyre not making a sequel series on this, since there seems to be sequels for the book.
