So far so good as this game keeps that same tense atmosphere from the first. Frankly if you liked the first you should definitely check this one out, anyone else play it yet, because frankly this game seems like it would be a perfect match for most of the gamers on this board..

Is it better than the first one? I hope they improved the combat mechanics a little bit. I liked the first one, but not enough to pay $60 when Vegas 2, Dark Sector and DLC for CoD4 right around the corner. If the general consensus on the board is that it's amazing I'll drop some money on it.

It's getting average reviews around 8.0. problems are the online kind of sucks, too many guns in the later missions, the story isn't that strong and the ending sucks. I would pirate this but I don't think a PC version is coming? I'm getting Vegas 2 and Dark sector over this.

I haven't heard anything on a PC version. If it does come, it won't be for a while.

yup that's the general consensus for it so far, granted some like the online..which I think is kind of interesting...but definitely no Vegas 2 or COD4, Halo3 etc.

The combat mechanics are better, with the 360 R and L trigger controlling your fists and the left thumbstick allowing you to kick, not to mention combos and some cool little slo-mo combo sequences that occur every so often. But it sounds like you'd be better off renting since it's still quite melee intensive and the combat system is very similar albeit refined in my opinion, though near the end I heard guns play a bigger role.

Yeah, def rental for me. Vegas 2 is SO close...I've got plenty of stuff to keep me entertained till then.

the first game was a little hard and actually scary. are the controls better in this one?

Personally I'd say so, I like the flow of combat more than last time, granted it takes a bit of time to get used to, you might want to go into the Fight club mode first, since it's like a practice arena, to get the hang of it.

I also turned up the sensitivity on the controller so I could look faster since it feels a bit sluggish initially, then again Ethan is an alcoholic in this one so that might have been on purpose.

So far I'm enjoying this a bit more than Criminal Origins. The new combat mechanics are pretty nifty. Blocking, parrying, combos and environmental finishers really make it a much more interesting game. The forensic investigation parts of the game are also MUCH better. You actually get to do something this time, unlike CO where you were constantly on auto-pilot during these sequences. The story is pretty decent so far... though I keep hearing the ending is terrible : (

I'll probably finish it tomorrow and go back to wishing it were on PC.

btw this should be a pretty good year for Survival Horror games. Dead Space, Alone in the Dark, Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil 5, Dead Island, Obscure 2, Sadness, and Alan Wake are all scheduled for release this year.

I was pretty pissed when I went to Best Buy the other day to find out that it wasn't available on the PS3 until later this week

I've played Obscure 2 and actually posted a mini review of it here on the board a while back. If you enjoyed the first game then you'll like the sequel.

I'm hearing different reasons for the delay. From Microsoft paying for the extra time to Condemned 2 having extras on the PS3. at this point both could be lies.

That's on my list, but I've already preordered Condemned and Vegas 2. I'll probably pick up Dark Sector after I finish up with one of the two first :D

I heard production problems plain and simple, which would make some sense for a week delay.

Just started playing this earlier -- freaky ass game. Incredibly hard to see at times, which makes it all the more scary. Diggin' it so far. Just picked up a shotgun.

Still haven't beaten it but now that I'm on spring break hopefully i'll finish it up, its a great game as far as i've gotten..they really knew what the first one was missing and added a bunch of great things, the hotel mission is pretty damn creepy.

Fun, scary, and extreamly immersive game. I beat it on hard the other day and the only thing I really wish they would have included was maybe more crime scenes, or even an instant crime scene game like "bloodshot brawl" found in the game. Oh well, beggers can't be choosers right? :P

Just finished the Hotel area and now I'm at the tracks. Love the new CSI aspect. It's much more interesting and engaging than the first one. So far I think I might like this a lil' better than the first, but we'll see if my thoughts change when I beat it.

Just beat the game. Seemed a bit short to me, and the ending was okay, but nothing spectacular. Scariest level was probably the start of the Doll Factory. Funnest was definitely the Lodge, and the hardest was likely the Museum, because those dudes in armor were pretty tough. Lots of scary bits in the game, and loved the added CSI-type features. Definitely liked this one better than the first. Lookin' forward to the next installment.

8/10

hopefully they make another, I haven't got through this one yet and I'm already hoping that they keep making em', granted the series is more of a cult classic rather than a blockbuster hit.

The doll factory was definitely creepy. I don't know what's worse, exploding dolls or inflamed crazies running at you! The museum is pretty awesome though, having all those medieval weapons at your disposal.

**POSSIBLE SPOILERS**

Is it just me or is this one not quite as scary as the first? There's just no sense of isolation in this one. In the Hotel and the Tracks, you had the 2 other agents near by, in the Doll factory you had the couple of good bums and the one agent in touch with you at all times, in the SCU building, you had the agent, in the museum, you had the police plus the guards, and hell, the black lake mission to me isn't even scary. You face off against nothing buy SCU agents with guns, and you have an assault rifle the whole time. To me, when you're facing off against coherent enemies like agents or security guards it's not nearly as scary as when you're fighting the crazed bums.
