I'm bettin this is where those rumors of Jason being on Supernatural were coming from.

I'm gonna laugh when this gets rated PG-13.

Meh, casting choice is decent since I'm a fan of the show, but hopefully the rest of the cast won't be filled with young OC-wannabes.

Plenty of worse choices out there. I'm not complaining about this guy.

Unfortunate, but more than likely especially if they go with a more known cast.

Agreed

On a related note. Funny how things change slightly. 6-7 years ago, the slogan would always be lets hope they dont load up on a horror movie with a Dawsons Creek/WB cast but those are long defunct.

Times change, but some things never change.

if this movie is PG-13, Hodder will slit his wrists on opening day.

Jared was on "House Of Wax", which had an OC-like cast. That was Rated-R.

I think you guys are playing elitist cards here. First of all, the dude is already working in the fantasy genre...so plus....he's a name that will make more money for the movie...plus....he's a good actor....plus. I would venture to say some of you haven't even seen this dude act before. He's good.

didn't care for house of wax not too bummed about the choice but horror movies should just stick to the best casting formula: No Names

I hope it is, 'cause I love watching them "perfect" cunts being butchered.

It more or less revolves around the studios pressure to keep knowns alive in these kinds of movies.

However I do like a MALE lead. Way too many female leads these days, obviously these movies are designed around a female lead. However the Friday series has always been good with male leads and characters.

Tommy Jarvis comes to mind, the 3 actors who played the character were all good enough in my book and the character of Jarvis himself gave Jason a rival and motivation outside of just killing for revenge.

^^^2 actors played Jarvis.

Part 4 - Corey Feldman
Part 5 - John Shepherd
Part 6 - Thom Matthews

I count Part 5 as sort of the Tommy Jarvis Trilogy even though it really doesnt fit well with Part 6 compared to just using 4 and 6 as examples.

I'm just worried on how much they are planning on changing it up. I don't want him to be just a serial killer in a hockey mask. I want him to be just a zombie serial killer in a hockey mask.

All in all it's the little things that get me through the day heh.

damn, I couldn't even tell Matthews and Shepard apart. I thought it was the same guy.

Considering Feldmen was a kid when he played Jarvis and the other guys were in their mid 20s shouldn't the movies have jumped a few years. Taking place in the future???

Wait am I thinking too much about the f13 franchise?

Shouldve is the key term.

I always found it odd that they went on to portray John Shepherd as merely a year or afew years older than what the character was in Part 4. That said, I think Part 6 nailed it right on as its not clear how long Jarvis was in an institution except for several years have passed between Part 6 and Part 4 and if you debate it with the experts on the series. Some lean one way or the other on whether or not Part 6 does or doesnt ignore Part 5.

Keep in mind that in all reality, there is about 5 years between 4 and 6.....while 6 takes place in 1986, part 4, even though it was released in 1984, still takes place in 1981 along with parts 2 and 3. Parts 2, 3 and 4 all take place within a week or two of each other. Tommy in 4 could easily be 12-13 years old, which would put Thom Matthews at around 17-18 years old in 6. I think 5 takes place 3 years after 4, and then 6 takes place 2 years after 5.
