Appleseed: Ex Machina

Pretty good anime. Visually and action-wise it's better than the previous installment, although the story isn't as strong, it's just as entertaining. However, while watching it, it was clear that they borrowed from countless other films like Star Trek, Equilibrium, The Matrix, and even Robocop at certain scenes. Naturally since John Woo was producer, some of his usual style of cinema (slow-mo and use of doves) are incorporated into the film. A pretty entertaining way to spend an hour-and-a-half. Worth a check, especially if you liked the previous one.

I really don't like what they've done to Deunan, they turned her from soldier girl, to Matoko Kusinagi.

In the manga she can fight quite well, but fire arms is her specialty. here shes just doing the matrix Bullshit every other scene. which doesn't work because Deunan is a regular Human, not a bioroid or a clone.

I have to say this as an animator as well, they way action happens and they way they framed it, negate eachother. I watched the first 15 min of this and then walked away. it just doesnt sync with me and annoyed the fuck out of me as well.

which is too bad because the Manga has a lot of action to it and a really grand story, not to mention the characters are less stale and full of individual charm.

Also, why did the Make Briaros 100% japanese? Hes supposed to be half Japanese and Half Black.
