This was a love-it-hate-it-type film for me. On one hand the whole concept of a Japanese western is really intriguing and the movie offered some cool characters and sequences, but on the other hand it was hard to understand WTF they were saying and (much like Miike's previous films) there were a lot of pointless and uncessary/weird scenes.

Overall, I liked the movie, but I couldn't help bust fast-forward some of the more ridiculous parts. The "Engrish" spoken throughout the flick does tend to make things less enjoyable, and I especially hated Tarantino's cameo in the beginning, since he decided to give himself some strange accent as well (which was harder to understand than most of the Japanese actors).

Had the movie taken a more serious tone, weeded out the uncessary stuff, and maybe spoke in Japanese with English subs, then I would have liked it a bit more.

7/10

Given that this is coming from Takashi Miike, I'm not surprised that it's sorta strange and yet intriguing at the same time. I'm guessing if it's hard to understand the characters, I might have to put the English subtitles on whenever this gets a US DVD release.

Much of the dialogue is confusing, but you get a general idea of what they're tryin' to say after a while, especially when you understand the story.

Downloading this mother fucker right now. Saw the opening scene on youtube and it's comforting to know that Tarantino's acting skills haven't progressed at all.

The scenes with Tarantino are the worst parts of the film :dsp:

He should abandon acting and just stick to ripping off old movies and boring us with scenes of hip dialogue.
