Red Wings vs. Predators --> Red Wings
Sharks vs. Flames --> Sharks
Wild vs. Avalanche --> Wild ( unless Foresberg kicks some ass)
Ducks vs. Stars --> Ducks

East

Canadiens vs. Bruins --> Canandians
Penguins vs. Senators --> Pens
Capitals vs. Flyers --> Caps (Ovechkin with his goal scoring power will kick ass)
Devils vs. Rangers --> Could go either way imo...Ill go with Devils

Sharks will win the cup....if The Sharks dont do it The Ducks will.

But I want the Canadians to win. They've been kicking ass lately.

The Wings should win it BUT they will fuck up again as usual.

Canadiens to me are just as playoff flawed as the Red Wings. Good team year in, year out. Beats everyone in the regular season and usually rolls the Bruins or whomever in the first round only to be ousted in the second round.

The only real thing about the Bruins I can say is that they were better with Thorton and Samsanov then these players.

The fact that Tim Thomas has a job after last season is beyond me, on any given night this guy is a serious liability to give up 6 or 7 goals.

If they go into next season with this bum you can kiss another season down the drain that I again wont bother to watch.

Bruins got absolutely bitchslapped in the first game as I expected. Give up two goals in what less than 2 minutes? Tim Thomas is a joke and everytime these two teams play, Montreal just brings a physical game that shatters the Bruins D like glass.

Oh well, still watching the series for fun. Lotta good series so far.

Max Payne

Could Boston have been a man (or more) down for any longer?

That last tripping call was a crock of shit. Habs should've gotten called for diving.

EDIT:

AND the Boston guy got high sticked before that with no whistle in sight.

Horrible job by the refs, there.

Tonights game was really good to watch, not that many play stopages, the Bruins since period 1 of the first game have matched MTL and who knows where they be if not for all those penalties last night.

If they can get the next one, then they might have a real good chanceat winning it.

Pissy article, but I do somewhat agree after last night that the Wild have to take it down a notch, it's one thing to be gritty but another thing to just be gooning around the ice which they were doing once that game became a laugher. Don't get me wrong, I like the Wild, but they are a better team than what they did last night.

speaking of gooning, Did anyone else think that Martin Brodeur should have taken his stick and given Sean Avery some quick plastic surgery? Marty wouldn't do something like that because he is class, but I wanted to see it so bad, shame no other Devils came in to protect their netminder.

Bruins dont have the talent needed to stay with Montreal. Simple as that. Bad matchup for the Bruins every and anytime they face them. I'll be shocked if they get the series back to Boston.

Hopefully the Ducks pull through but from what I've seen so far. Dallas seems to have really played their tempo in that series. Giguere needs to step up.

Make it 2-0. Halfway home.

Michel Therrien should be ashamed of himself, whining his way through the post-game presser like he did. Thankfully that shit (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08148/885120-61.stm) isn't even flying in the 'burgh (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/08148/885106-61.stm):

If all that weren't embarrassing enough, Penguins coach Michel Therrien was intent on blaming the officials, who are about the 82nd most impactful architects of this 2-0 well the Penguins find themselves in.

"They're good at obstruction," Therrien said of the impending Stanley Cup champions. "It's going to be tough to generate any offense if the rules [are going to be enforced] the same. It's the first time we've faced a team where the obstruction is there. We took two penalties against the goaltender. We never do that. He's a good actor. He's diving. He did the same thing against Dallas."

This is merely Therrien's way of trying to take some heat off his stars, ultra-profile forces suddenly reduced to non-entities by Detroit's near flawless backchecking. It can't be their fault. He can't lose them now, so it has got to be somebody else's fault. At least he didn't blame the octopi. After the game last night, Penguins coach Michel Therrien accused the Red Wings of being "good on obstruction" in one rant and accused Detroit goaltender Chris Osgood of diving in another. Those are the things a desperate man says as he's reaching for any kind of lifeline. It was a little sad to watch him stoop to that level.

The truth?

The Penguins have been outplayed in every phase of the game.

We aren't gonna play "THE REF's BLEW IT CARD!" are we?

lets face it, we can all argue GI penalties until we are blue in the face, and believe me and my friends have, but lets put it this way, what if on one of those calls detroit had scored? should that be a legal goal if you make contact with the goalie, and both times Fleury was knocked down and put in a compromised position. And what about the 4 minute double minor on Hudler? I'm sure he didn't mean it so should he just have been able to apologize to Gill(?) and then no penalty? The penalties are not a reason for the result of this game but an excuse for disgruntled fans. The penguins won the game on the only legit call of the whole OT. And Let em' play? what do you think the refs were doing? Those guy's were gassed and they were getting grabby out there. There could have been numerous obstruction calls on both sides that went unnoticed because the refs are hesitant to make OT calls. Besides like I said, The pens scored on the only legit one anyway and that's that.

Besides like I said, The pens scored on the only legit one anyway and that's that.No excuses here. As I said, it never should've gotten that far, b/c the wings risked exactly what happened by trying to kill the clock mucking in the corners rather than trusting their faceoff skills.

That said, the calls were awful, all around. You admitted yourself that only one call was legit, so you can hardly also say the refs were "letting them play." Three jacked up calls is bad enough in the course of regulation, but in OT, it's absolutely ridiculous.

Whether Detroit scored or not is moot, b/c those calls should never have been made, in the first place. Zetterberg got the for the first phantom "interference" call without even touching Fleury. He never entered the crease, only tried to shovel the puck past him. The second was a total dive. (He flopped at least once more, but the Refs didn't call it one way or the other). The hooking call that put the wings on the power play was incidental contact at best. Blood is blood, so there's not too much to be said about the high stick.

GI is something they have to discuss in the offseason...PERIOD! but besides that the refs did let them indeed play. After 60 minutes of hard fought hockey, those guys were tired. Each Check being finished became a game of grabass at the boards, tons of times guys were using the free hand to grab around a guy, but the refs turned a blind eye, but like i said, the pens scored on the only legit call so where is the damage in that, other than the fact that it shows just how much GI calls need to be adressed especially if the pens would have scored on one of those, or lets turn it the other way, had the wings scored after knocking fleury down.

now on a brighter side of things ratings have been up substantially for all these games so at least the NHL is benefitting from what has been a great stanley cup series so far.

how exactly are you getting to see lord stanley's cup?

and some closing comments for this playoffs and season:

to me, this is easily one of the best playoffs i think i have ever seen and easily the best of the post-lockout era. tons of great series, and a fantastic stanley cup finals featuring two marquee teams. As a fan of hockey in general you just couldn't go wrong this year. And even better for me personally is the resurgence of my Chicago Blackhawks, who will no doubt boost a city that has the potential to be a strong hockey hotbed in the future, not to mention the supposed winter classic at Wrigley field featuring my Hawks and Detroit. It was a fun year this year and I can only hope next year will be even better.

not to mention the supposed winter classic at Wrigley field featuring my Hawks and Detroit.Hope that pans out. Heard rumors that it might not work out due to a conflict with the Wings usual New Year's Eve home game.

My gf used to live in Chicago, so we'd def. try to get out there for this.

how exactly are you getting to see lord stanley's cup?Cleary (like DB) is a Newfie, and the first one to be on a Cup winning team, at that. You know he's bringing it home for the locals to see.

hopefully Detroit and Chicago ends up being the final, I'm sure they could schedule it for jan 2 if the wings want to have a jan 1 home game. I know I'll be back in town for break anyway and my family are huge hockey fans so we know we'll be there if chicago gets it, no matter who they face. Hopefully its detroit though, it'll be fun to hear 40,000+ chanting "Detroit Sucks!"
