Doesn't mean he's dropping horror. "The big guns" might give him a chance but his name is synonomous only with Cabin Fever and Hostel and current horror. If this big movie he's planning fails he'll be running back to writing horror movies in no time.

Good point, and I agree.

he said that he isn't dropping horror and gore at all. He just wants to do something else for a change. Can't blame him for that. Although I hope he doesn't sell out and stop doin gore flicks all together. Cuz his movies are only so so but he's good with the special effects. And he said what he wants to do was inspired by movies like Cloverfield, that still falls under the horror genre. I just hope what he does is better than that movie.

I hope he never makes another horror flick, let him fuck up some other genre.

I thought Cabin Fever and Hostel are worth a watch.
I wouldn't mind rewatching Cabin Fever since I haven't seen it since it came to DVD.
Hostel II was the worst movie of the year though.

I would think if there was one it would go direct to DVD.

I know he was planning on doing the adaptation of Stephen King's book "Cell," and I was kinda looking forward to that actually, but I'd be interested to see an Eli Roth destruction movie - why not? If Carpenter hadn't tried making a horror movie after Assault on Precinct 13, the world would be a darker place..

Cabin Fever was pretty decent for a low budget.

I liked Cabin Fever aswell. I got exactly what I expected, just one big homage to various horror flicks. Hostel is garbage. Nothing but fluffy safe horror wrapped in a nice package of hype and failed potential.

And I have too much self respect to watch Hostel 2.

While Eli Roth is an idiot and a complete tool, who is trying desperately to be a Tarantino clone. I will give his horror movies a chance aslong as Hostel isn't part of the title or if I hear Roth open his trap saying something along the lines of, "my movies are the most shocking...nothing in my movies has ever been done before...I'm god's gift to horror fans everywhere" or something stupid like that.

Cabin Fever stunk balls, Hostel was good, Hostel 2 was the shitz.

a friend told me about that. But then he find out Eli was going to be taking a break, so it would be a long while before Cell even gets started
