Anyone who watches The Simpsons knows that occasionally a character falls down the stairs, or drops into the Springfield Gorge, or even dies. Homer Simpson strangles Bart in almost every episode. The concern for too much violence on television has been growing. But, how much does it really affect people, children especially?

.................................................. ...................

I think parents are way more responsible for their kids behavior than TV.

Simpsons is rough, but I wouldn't say it's dangerous for kids to watch.

Parents need to take responsibilty for dumb things their dumbass kids do. Period.

My Grandparents wouldn't let me watch the show when I was a child and up at their place. But it was cool 'cause i'd already seen each episode a thousand times.

I turned out fine...

My dad and I used to watch it all the time... I grew up wit it. Plus every B-day my dad gets me a season on DVD, I don't even ask for it, its just automatic

My Papa was like that. I remember he'd never let us watch Married With Children or Simpsons or any sitcoms. He was hardcore on using the ratings guide but it was cool cause I'd go home and my mom would let me watch Tales from the Crypt .

I saw Halloween on TV when I was like 6 or 7, and over the next several years, I got my mom to rent or buy me nearly every major franchise horror film, and i'm perfectly fine now.

Says the guy planning to kill his wife :D

Anyway, I agree that parents need to take the responsibility for teaching their kids right from wrong.

I remember the FIRST episode I ever saw. "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" Absolutely awesome. At first my parents objected, but eventually they gave in because it was a cartoon. Ha!

But hell, why worry about this show? There's worse on TV nowadays.

IMO Looney Tunes was more violent than The Simpsons. My great grandparents used to make me watch horror movies when I was little so I would shut up and go to bed.

I agree with Violent D. Nobody complains when the looney tunes beat the hell out of each other. And I find it funny their still going on about The Simpsons when shows like South park and Family Guy go even further. But its all with the parents. I mean you can't control what your kids do every second of every day. But I do hate that every single time a kid does something a cartoon, movie or video game gets blamed.

I think parents miss the point of Homer wringing Bart's neck if they use it as an example of TV violence.
