View Full Version : Iron Man Rocks
Seriously awesome movie. Probably the best comic adaptation to date, yes even Batman Begins. In a way this is kind of like that, only more action packed and Downey is awesome. The cgi is absolutely top notch. The fight scene with Iron Monger, while short, is pretty awesome. and its just an all around entertaining movie. 9/10. Oh and stay after the credits for a nice surprise.

Going saturday... thanks for the heads up for the after the credits thing...
IronMan was always one of my favorites, so I'm excited as hell for this.
Don't give any details (names or anything), but are there any hints of a sequel villain? Simple yes or no....
thanks..

the owner of the comic book shop I go to said Yes. He also said they were subtle hints too.
So Lgor how did Ironmans voice sound good? I've not heard him speak as Ironman yet.

This Movie was great on all levels if you ask me. This is right up there with Batman Begins for best comic book movie I've seen. RDJ was a great cast as Iron man and the voice while in the suit was decent. I dont remeber seeing any hints to the next villian, but I also dont think I would have noticed it if it had. And yes stay after the credits so worth the 5 or so minuets.

Fuckin Awesome! 8 1/2 out of 10. The only thing that made the less then 9 was there wasn't as much action. I loved how they did a lot of story, which is needed, but still, another action scene would of been good. Still, great.

I Learned a long long time ago never leave early...
there are a bunch of hints in the ending graphics during the credits but the sweeet sweet payoff is at the very end...a must for anyone who considers themselves a marvel fan...
Robert downy jr is the fuckin bomb as tony stark...his real life plays into the role well to say the least. solid script, good acting, awesome effects u couldnt ask 4 more. Marvel has a second kick ass franchise on their hands...now if they could put together a armor wars or civil war in 3 mor films i could die happy

Great movie. Downey Jr was a great Tony Stark. It did bug me how you didn't hear his Iron man voice that much, but still what a great movie. The fact they bothered to tell a story is what made this one so great. And some of the one liners by Stark were just hilarious. The stripper pole in the private jet....priceless.
And the scene after the credits made me geek like I've never geeked before. I never thought that "that" was going to ever actually happen. Its such a great time to be a comic book geek. I thought Jeff Bridges did a great job as the villain. I kept sittin there thinkin "I can't believe thats The Dude". Even Gwyneth Paltrow did a great job, and I usually can't stand her. I CANT WAIT to see James Rhodes as War Machine.
And if nobody got the hints as to who the next possible villain may be highlight this: The people that kidnapped stark belonged to the clan of the 10 Rings...hmmm which Ironman villain had 10 rings.
*highlight* The Mandarin, which is funny when Raza, the other bald guy, mentioned Genghis Khan in his little speech. Cool shit

but would they reproduce the 2 animated films they have already made?

Just got back from the show and I fuckin' LOVED IT!!!! And yeah, I picked up the clue to the next villain... When they first mentioned the name of the group, I got all kinds of excited, (my wife, who is not a comic geek, didn't understand what I was all excited about... heh!)
The cookie just about made me nut on myself...
The only thing that I could have done without is a very minor thing... All the damn product placement... Verizon here, Burger King there... But I guess that's gonna be the norm for big budget movies, so I figure that I'd best just get used to it.

yeah, its a running trend for superhero movies these days. I think all 3 Spiderman movies had Dr. Pepper in them and even the trailer for TDK has Starbucks and Citi Bank.

product placement doesn't bother me. If it over shadows things then thats bad. But these movies are supposed to take place in real life. There are going to be things like Burger King and Starbucks and Citi Bank. And I can't bitch about a fast food resturant being advertised when I eat there from time to time. Or pepsi advertising when I drink the stuff.
And the movies broke $200 mill worldwide so luckily they may start following Ironmans formula of creating a GOOD movie.

Thor is scheduled for 2010 and Captain America and The Avengers both is scheduled for 2011 according to Superherohype. Kinda weird their releasing Captain and Avengers in the same year, but I'm all for getting it as soon as I can. I was off by a year myself. I was thinking Avengers wouldn't come out till 2012.

I agree seeing Cap sooner than later would be nice. I'm real interested in a Thor movie though, just cuz theres about a million different ways that movie could turn out. Could be interesting. I've been wondering who they would add to an avengers movie. But I'm thinkin they'd just go with the Cap, Ironman, Hulk, Thor and.....I dunno who else. With a limited budget you could only have so many people. They could introduce Hawkeye in the avengers movie I think. But go with the Ultimate version. I like him better.

I liked it quite a bit. Right up there in my top5 comic book/superhero movies.
I have to be honest, the biggest shock of the entire film (besides the really bad product placement), was Tom Morello as one of the terrorists.

The damnedest thing is when I first heard he was going to play Stark, I threw a shitfit... I just could not see him playing Tony... Then I saw a pic or two from the movie and my mind started to open up to a little, then when I saw the first trailer, I was like, "Goddamn! That's fuckin' Tony Stark, man!!!"

Yeah I don't know if I'd like it as much with another actor in the role. I never read the comic and have no clue if that's Tony Stark, and I don't care nerds!!!
I remember back in '98 I use to read my sister's entertainment weekly magazines and read a little article about tom cruise wanting to star in and produce an Iron Man movie. Wonder how that would have turned out. :die:

My wife made a double feature of the day: Iron Man and Indiana Jones.
I love comic books. I can't stand the Iron Man character nor can I stomach most comic book movies. This had two existing strikes going against it before they filmed the first frame.
The only bad thing I can say about the movie is that the awesome missile he built needed to be portrayed as awesome, not just explained as such. This is a very minor concern.
No rants about whiny superheroes: Tony Stark took care of business.
No rants about dubious moral predicaments: Tony Stark took care of business because he wanted to.
I hope that the Iron Man film is the future of superhero movies. I'm glad I saw it on the big screen, and I'll be at the store bright and early the day of the DVD release.
