Ugh, it seems like there's an ad on here every week for a new S-T-DVD low budget horror movie coming out! I'm glad the PG-13 craze isn't this bad.

I tend to like that straight to DVD movies more then overhyped PG13 movies.
A lot more refreshing to see laid back acting and guys without make up on the big screen. All the PG13 movies are basically ripoffs of other movies anyway.
I blind buyed the ultra low budget DTDVD movie The Ghouls and I loved it.

Same thing happened in the 80's. People just bitch about it more now because of the internet. Fah q u

I have always said and now have back up from the dude who made Hatchet. If it is a PG-13 movie then it is not a horror movie.

Yeah, the straight-to-DVD flicks seem kinda dumb, but I respect them because most of them seem like gems being made by and for die-hard horror fans (like Frontier(s), Otis, Feast, most of the Films to Die For series...).

But yeah, definitely more noble as a subgenre than PG-13 horror.

It seems most of the Str8-2-DVD flicks seem to copy a current film or trend.

Honestly, Wrong Turn 2 was the first straighter that I really enjoyed.

I agree with deadbreed, samething happened in the 80's with VHS but they didn't recieve the kind of "promotion" that direct to dvd movies get due to the internet. However, straight to dvd isn't always bad, I really enjoyed both Wrong Turn 2, and
Hatchet. More times than not I would rather watch a straight to dvd over some pg-13 piece of hollywood garbage.

Hatchet had a limited release in theatres. Does that count as Direct-To-DVD?

did it? I knew that it was supposed to get a theatrical release but after it got delayed forever I thought they just went straight to dvd. I could be totally wrong though.
