Once again, I find myself wandering the internet ways in search of hard to find dvds and I was wondering something. Anyone have any experience with the "sponsored links" section of Amazon.com? A couple websites they have listed there have interesting for-sale dvd selections and was thinking of trying them out. Anyone have any good/bad experience with any of them?

To be specific, this website Amazon has on thier list has me wondering:

Thoughts, anyone?

Well, I'll give them a try and see what happens. Worst case, I'm out a few bucks and learn a lesson about amazon's tastes in sponsors (followed by a long discussion with amazon's customer support department). Best case, I get a few dvds I've been looking for.

Ahh, the fun and exciting of internet shopping.... :shakes:

I'll update this thread with whatever happens, good or bad it should help other folk in their hunt for older dvds.

Looking at some of the titles they're offering lead me to believe they're selling bootlegs. They claim all of their dvds are Region 0 or Region 1. That's usually a dead giveaway.

Put in an order and confirmation email says they'll be mailed out Friday. Figure by late next week, we'll see if its a scam, bootlegs, or legit dvds. *shrug*

Well, been doing a bit or reading on certain information sites about this website (also read their customer reviews on Ebay cause I was bored). Best guess is their dvds are a mix of real from-the-store copies and bootlegs, depending on the title. However, from what folks have posted about them, the bootlegs are of fine quality.

Personally, store-bought or bootleg makes no matter to me, long as they are playable on my dvd player of choice and of acceptable quality, especially in regards to the out of print films I was looking for on that site. Been watching downloaded flicks from torrent sites too long to be hung up on where movies come from in most respects. As I said though, I'll get hands on experience with their product next week to really answer the questions... Still, the read was worth it.

Quality is all that matters really. Real-deal or copies, long as it acts like something I bought from Walmart its fine by me. :eyebrow2:

By the by, if anyone is curious... The flicks I ordered from them were: Split Second, The Gate, Humanoids from the Deep, and Razorback. Awe inspiring picks, I know. lol.

Quality or not spending 12 bucks on a bootleg is silly, especially when you can get a Netflix account for 20 a month and buy a bundle of DVD-R's and just make them yourself since that place doesn't have any rare or OOP titles.

I hate Netflix for very special reasons. *shrug*

Update: I got the flicks I ordered....

DvD case: Generic casing, however the dvd sleeve (the sheet with the cover art and the back info) is an exact copy of the original dvd's work. So thats better than I expected.

DvD: Its a copy, standard dvd-r disc... but thats ok. At least I know what I'm working with.

Content: Only tried out one so far (split second), but first glance shows the complete DvD: original dvd menu options (special features, chapters, ect), full length film, everything down to the "do not copy" warning... lol.

End verdict: Yea, its a bootleg site, but the product is good quality. I don't recommend using these sites though. As prior mentioned, its cheaper to buy a stack of dvd-rs and do the netflix route. But, since I dislike using netflix, I am not complaining.

Thanks for the advice and help folks. Hope this little adventure into Amazon's sponsor links will help someone else out. Now, to try out the other dvds... :nosleep:

One last post in this thrilling, exciting thread...

All four dvds were the complete DvD; full dvd menu, clear/clean running of entire movie, basically same quality of veiwing as any dvd from walmart of amazon.com, minus of course that it was a dvd-r disc. So, no regrets... though I won't be using them again. *shrug*

Side note, the price never really bothered me. Yea, its a bit much for bootlegs but personally, I would have paid the price of all of them just for a decent copy of Split Second. Been hunting a good copy of that flick for ages.

But, I'll end this thread on the reminder to other folks: just use netflix and burn your own, its safer that way.... and cheaper.

If he would have screwed me out of a good copy of Split Second, I would have done it myself. :karate:

Been too long since I seen that movie.
