View Full Version : Saw V Update on Cast and Plot
Aurone

Lionsgate has announced the full cast for SAW V.
Tobin Bell (Jigsaw), Costas Mandylor (Hoffman), Scott Petterson (Agent Straum), and Betsy Russell (Jill) are reprising their respective roles from Saw IV. They will be joined Rambo's Julie Benz (Brit), Waist Deep's Meagan Good (Luba), Mark Rolston (Erickson), Carlo Rota (Charles), Greg Bryk (Mallick), and Laura Gordon (Ashley).
The story picks up when Hoffman is seemingly the last person alive to carry on the Jigsaw legacy. But when his secret is threatened, Hoffman must go on the hunt to eliminate all loose ends.
David Hackl, the production designer on the previous films, will direct.
The film opens on October 24th, 2008.
The last film was good, but still the weakest of the Series (though that dosn't mean much when the Series is strong). My fear is this will be going down hill from here.

they should have stopped after part 3. I never bothered with 4, but I will eventually.

4 was good. I find 2 to be the weakest. ill catch 5 but they need to wrap this cash cow up.

I only saw the first three and thought the second was the best. But Aurone's opinion is what I'm hearing more than anything, that none of them are really bad movies, but they're getting worse with each one.
On the bright side, it's been a long time since we've seen a long-term franchise go downhill year after year before our eyes. There's some novelty to it: I'm sure just like there are fans of Saw now who acknowledge how ridiculous it is when they go see the new one each year who did the same thing in the midst of the F13 series, or Halloween or NOES.

This series was dead after pt. 2 IMO. Haven't caught 4 yet so depending on that I might or might not see this.

I'll most likely see this.
The second was my favorite just because I thought Shawnee Smith was smokin in it.

The first two were good the third eh and the fourth I feel ashamed to say I saw it. This one will be a free download because i'm not wasting money on it. Plus a production designer turned first time director is going to throw his hat into the ring so i'm not to thrilled about where it's going.

I tried to watch part four. All you really need to see is the first ten minutes and you know most of how it will end. So the last five minutes are the only other part worth watching. The rest was a bad attempt at imitating the Jigsaw motive. (The ending was a good attempt, I thought, and that's why it was so visible.)
It is fun watching a series go downhill.

The saw series was never anything more than a serial killer using clever traps anyways. Considaring thats the only real point of watching the film, if they manage to fail at that, then they really do just suck.

Wow, the story gets lamer and lamer and further away from the first. Pretty soon it won't even involve Jigsaw.
Anyway, the weakest of the series was part 3. I mean, come on, he was just testing Amanda? Okee..

They had better put more effort into this, more than the previous 2, as they say their gonna have 6 in the series, But as mentioned by others looks like their gonna transform this into another Friday 13 series, BUT Yet Saw is doing WELL at the box office, which is an advantage over the Friday flicks, so they might as well make more

I thought 4 was actually the 2nd best in the series. I'd say the first was the best and that two's the weakest.

I liked Saw when nobody knew what it was and when it was underground. now its all commercialized and the same joy factor doesn't come to me anymore.

I've actually enjoyed all of the saw films so far. Some are better then others but as a whole I've really liked the series so far.

4 did not warrant a sequel.

I personally thought 4 was the most clever of the series and very much on par with the first.
**SPOILERS***
Riggs didn't die in 4, so I hope he's in this one.
