Hellboy was a movie I was sure I would hate, but I watched it with my son who was 4 at the time and we both loved it. We are stoked for the new one.

Saw it earlier, good movie. Kicks the first one in the balls. Highly entertaining and surprisingly pretty funny as well. Should have a positive review posted soon.

I'll echo what everyone has been saying, I thought the first one was mediocre. This one looks pretty promising though.

ditto, but this new one's much better; I'd say it rivals Blade 2 on Guillermo's background now...
9/10

It was a bit predictable in some parts. If I held my hands over my ears, it would be terrific, but the movie had dialouge and it brought the visual aspect down a bit. 7/10

I loved it, better than the first by far to me, I'd give it a 8/10 or 9/10, but I'll wait till it sinks in a bit. But for those who saw it already, the part with Abe and Hellboy was priceless. And John Krauss sounded like Stewie and the fish from american dad in one voice, wasnt bad though.

Hellboy > Batman Begins

I enjoyed the first so I'll check out the sequel. Hellboy still isn't a horror movie though, no matter how much you want it to be.

Agreed, but when you deal with fantasy films, especially ones with strange creatures, it can swing either way, depending on the person's opinion.

I dug the first one, I here this ones way better so I can't wait to see it. I've heard the Troll Market scene compared to the scene in star wars when they walk into the bar, and theres all those different creatures to see. I've read if you see it multiple times theres always something new. I can't wait to see this!

Saw this at the drive in with Wanted. Both movies were great....
Loved Hellboy II more than the first, there was just tons going on but had great pacing. The entire Hellboy and Abe drinking scene was fuckin' hilarious.

I make exceptions for fantasy films, especially really popular ones like this.

Liked the first one more... HB2 was good, don't get me wrong, but I liked the original a little bit more.

I LOVED this movie. So much going on, but it all fit. The scene with Abe and Hellboy getting drunk was hilarious, and so was the fight between Johann and Hellboy. That shit cracked me up. I haven't seen anything as great as the Troll Market since....well I can't think of anything thats been that great. "I'm not a baby I'm a tumor". Great stuff. The tooth fairies too, when their "questioning" one of them. That was funny.

Saw this movie twice over the weekend because I had wayyyy to much time on my hands this weekend lol but yeah the first time I saw this. It was GREAT and the drinking scene is fucking hilarious! Even the second time I saw it, I laughed just as hard I think haha. but the crowd the second time I saw it was fucking LAME! NO ONE laughed at any of the funny parts seriously. Kinda ruined the experience but oh well I thought it was amazing still :D I give it a 9.5/10 Can't wait till number 3! Hopefully it just keeps getting better and better.

was a good solid 7.5. the film was much better than the first one, but it was missing something and I have no clue what that is, but the film was very damn good, but it was kind of sad too. they made some really good points in the final scene of the climax.

somebody may have already mentioned this, but did anybody else think the elf king in this movie and the king in pans labyrinth looked pretty much the same?

might have been a homage? Afterall, done by the person.

Disappointing to say the least.

Good movie and fun, sure. Very weak compared to the first though. At times it didn't even seem like a Guillermo Del Toro movie other than the fantasy creatures and the industrial/gears settings and locations.

Too much unnecessary humor and drama, the villain is very underused and definitely didn't have the menacing feel that was in the first one. All the characters had changed, and not for the better, compared to the first movie. Manning had gone from a take charge kind of guy to a sniveling little suck up, Abe's actions (and I don't mean emotional actions) were more human like rather than being in the middle of human/creature. Then Hellboy who was suppose to have a character revelation and become a man from the first movie, acted more like a child here.

In the end though, movie did what it was suppose to do. Be a fun and entertaining action movie.

took my kids to see this over the weekend. they LOVED it. i was somewhat disappointed. i swear that some of the sets were used in pans labrynth (sp) and that the king in hellboy is the king from pan as well. mayhaps there will be and explaination on the dvd? there were some good parts tho and i did laugh my ass off, hopefully the third will get down to the nitty gritty get down to what he is to become
