Dark Knight star signed for Terminator trilogy.
by Brian Linder
May 20, 2008 - Christian Bale isn't just starring in the upcoming Terminator franchise reboot. The Dark Knight star is signed for an entire trilogy of flicks in which he'll play resistance leader John Conner.

The producers of Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, which has already begun filming, revealed the scoop to BBC News.

Producer Victor Kubicek said, "Christian was our first choice and he's a big fan of The Terminator, so we're very lucky. But with Batman he's already done the whole franchise thing, so we weren't sure he'd respond."

"Luckily," said The Halcyon Company's Derek Anderson, "he read the script and he loved it, so he's signed on for all three."

There's no word on whether the other Terminator Salvation stars -- Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin, Common, Moon Bloodgood -- will be reprising their roles in subsequent flicks.

The next Terminator installment, directed by McG, will make its bow worldwide on May 22, 2009.

Pretty good news.

But a trilogy? Why not just one more and end it at that? Dragging out the actual war between 3 movies sounds like a stretch unless this indeed a complete reboot from the start.

They said all they needed to with Terminator 2. Not looking forward to any more sequels/ spin offs, etc.

I think the tv series is good and it will probably run a quick course. Two, three seasons at most but atleast it will give a different take on the series overall and it will probably turn out better than what T3 had to offer.

That said, 3 more theatrical movies seems like a bit much even for the possibilities of this series. One thing Bale will do though is elminate the need or cry for Arnie to come back in this series.

Bale maybe the star but the fact that the movie is directed by McG makes this a guaranteed failure.

I don't mind them making another 3. With Mr Bale on board hopefully they will be 3 kick ass films.
