Just wanted everyone to vote on what they thought the best ghost stories were to date. I tried to make a good list to choose from but I'm sure I missed a few.
In my opinion, I loved Poltergeist and What Lies Beneath. Great supernatural stories that seemed plausible because of great filmmaking/acting.
PS - You can vote for all the ones you liked. And yes some where remakes, but still pick that movie for which ever version you liked.

Never got around to seeing that one but I've always heard decent things about it. I think its in my Netflix queue somewhere.

I'll go with Kairo. I just think it is a very effective and creepy film. Out of the list I'd say The Ring and Ju-On.

Anyone else seen Nomads? Fright had a review but the page isn't working. Was a pretty cool movie about ghosts and possession/reincarnation with Pierce Brosnan.

Am I the only one that feels Ghostbusters is out of place on that list, considering its comic nature?

Yes.
Actually I just added it because I needed one more before adding the "other" category and couldn't think of anything else at the time.

I agree with Steel. As great as a movie as Session 9 is, it's not a ghost movie. It's about multiple personality disorder and schizophrenia. I guess you could label it as "internal ghosts".....
My vote is for Poltergeist, the best ghost film in history in my opinion, although the original version of The Haunting is close.

Was that the one where the ghost keeps trying to rape the woman?
And then they trapped the ghost and turned it into ice or something.

No. The ghosts of a young girl's step mom and real mom attack each other. Step mom's ghost is trying to kill the child. Real mom's ghost prevents her from doing that.

When the question is "what is your favorite ghost story?"... yea, I would choose one of those over Ghostbusters cause in my eyes Ghostbusters is not a ghost story like the others of the offered list. *shrug* My opinion of course, to each their own.

:shakehead My mom would call you Bitchy Longstocking. The majority of the films are more or less horror, so I figured I'd just put this in the Horror section.
But personally I don't just consider Ghostbusters a comedy, but What Lies Beneath a drama. If you want to nitpick over the title of the poll, I never said "What's your favorite scary ghost story?".

Really? Bitchy? A bit harsh isn't it? Wasn't flaming the poll or taking any cracks at anyone. It was a simple question that I thought was a relatively civil discussion point. But thats alright. I'll revert to the "not another poll" and "wtf did you post this" type posts these kinds of threads usually generate if thats what you are baiting me for. If anything, I aim to please.
