Why had I never heard of this movie until now?!?
I was telling a friend about the trailer for Quarantine, and she commented on how it sounded a lot like a Spanish film she saw called [Rec]. She praised it and commented on how the ending of the film scared the shit out of her.
I promptly navigated my way the veoh.com and found the whole film there.
I LOVED IT! It was gritty and scary, with just enough violence and realism to make the really quite chilling ending work.
Personally I loved the cinema verite style, and the camera work never seemed too coincidental (see The St. Francisville Experiment). I have heard a lot of gripes about movies from this POV, but when it is done right, it is amazing! Unlike Cloverfield, this film manages to utilize the POV in order make something quite chilling. Cloverfield never felt authentic.
I really really enjoyed this film and am so upset that I just saw it!
8.5/10
What do you guys think?

I'm unsure when the R1 release of the film will be hitting the shelves, but I do now that the R2 PAL release is now available to purchase at Xploited Cinema (that is, if any of you have an all-region player). Otherwise, there are plenty of streams and I believe I've heard of a torrent available somewhere. Otherwise, you might be waiting a while.
Anyway, [Rec] was a really good movie and the movie was overall creepy. The last 10 minutes of the film were especially creepy.

ive heard the POV in this movie is so bad it'll give you a migraine. I hated how it was in Cloverfield. That alone makes me not wanna see this, or the american remake.

The POV in [Rec] is a lot worse than it was for Cloverfield. If you try to look pass that flaw you'll enjoy the flick.

If you didn't like the camera work in Cloverfield then you'll definitely hate the work done with this. There are a few annoying scenes that keep the camera purposely out of focus :dsp:

I loved this flick. One of the better horror movies I've seen in quite a while.

Just watched a stream of this... the quality wasn't that good, but the camera work definitely gave me a headache. Decent flick, some pretty creepy scenes. Don't watch if you can't stand the shaky camera .
