So I'm almost done with "Silence of the Lambs" by Thomas Harris, then I'll start "Hannibal" also by Thomas Harris.

"The Taking" by Deen Koontz, - I've read it a number of times and its a great end of the world with a twist kind of novel.

"The Best of All Flesh:Zombie Anthology" by James Lowder - I must says this anthology has some of the most entertaining and hilarious zombie fiction I have ever read as well as your usual blood bath additions.

"Hater" by David Moody An awesome book that is like 28 days later from the point of view of those that have the rage virus. Very well done.

Bones of Contention by Jeanne Mathews

Matthews debuts a new series starring energetic amateur sleuth Dinah Pelerin. Dinah has had a series of makeshift jobs, but her real passions are mythology and anthropology. She has just received a summons from her wealthy American uncle to witness his suicide. Dying of cancer, he has asked his entire family (several wives, assorted children, and niece Dinah) to come to a remote lodge in northern Australia. Before the suicide can take place, a murder occurs that may be tied to the bizarre death of a stranger on a nearby island, who was impaled on the back of a sea turtle. Digging into the case, Dinah discovers that the members of her family are not exactly who or what she had assumed they were all these years. On the positive side, she may be in line for an inheritance, and she has a unique opportunity to study Aboriginal Australian culture. Readers will enjoy the anthropology frame and the liberal doses of “Strine” (Australian slang) that appear throughout. Fans of Elizabeth Peters’ Vicky Bliss should try this engaging new series, which will take Dinah to various locales in search of anthropological adventure.

Classic case of going against my instincts and buying a book based on the cover and a quick scan of the back.... jesus christ i regretted it. Terrible book and its been quite a while since i have read something so horrid.

It was an interesting read, especially since I had to read the original back in school. I would recommend it. Zombies, zombies getting their asses handed to em, and old school notions of romance if you lived in a warrior based old English society...

Gears of War: Jacinto's Remnant, so Karen Traviss
Dead Space: Martyr, by Brian Evenson

Not sure why, but I decided to go on an 'expanded universe' kick for games I have been playing lately. GoW: Aspho fields takes place after the first game. GoW: Jacinto's Remnant takes place after the second. Dead Space Martyr is sort of a history lesson. All in all, not bad reads... if you are interested in Dead Space or Gears of War universes.

halfway thru dead bait. Its worth the buy if your into anthologies or sea monsters although its hit or miss like most anthologies. Some of the stories flat out suck, some feel like they are only part of a story, and some are golden.

Chief Falling Rock

finished Dead Bait. Some hits and misses but all in all a good anthology about sea monsters/lake monsters and everything in between.

Fox Goes Fission - Story about a Native American who is fishing in a haunted lake trying to retrieve the souls its takin. Weird story but I really enjoyed. Ghosts, zombies, evil rats, evil lookin catfish, lake sharks, big killer worms. This is one evil lake.

Chum Bucket - A good story, but like more than one in this anthology felt like part of a story. It feels like the beginning of a monster story. Guy goes out into the ocean with a crazy sea captain to see....something.

Test Drive - This story is more comical than anything, bout a guy trying to sell a car to what he doesn't realize is a zombie that just crawled out of the lake. I found it funny.

Old Man and the Puddle - Story with a twist I saw coming, but still entertaning yarn bout a guy out for revenge against a giant eel that had killed his father (and his dog) years before.

Brunch - slow but unique story I enjoyed about a guy that feeds an octopus. I can't really say anything more about it or I'll give it away.

Crawlies - Another one of those stories that felt like part of a monster tale. Guy goes fishin and buys this strange bait that really creeps the hell out of him. And of course it gets lose, like I said felt like part of a story so you dont really learn anything about the bait. But entertaning none the less

Jungle Rot - By far the worst story in the bunch. Has so little to do with sea monsters I dunno how it made it into this anthology. Bout a guy who'se supposed to be out hunting for a monster, he ends up having vietnam flashbacks. Hated it.

Under The Boardwalk - Nice monster story bout what resembles a very deep sea predator. Sorta long the lines of an Angler Fish.

Noodlers - A funny, entertaining story abou hillbillies who are "noodling" which is catching catfish with your hands. Obviously they run into a giant one.

Grim Adaptations - Zombie fish. Nuff said. Although I wish there had been more to it.

Blood in the River - nice vampire tell about a vampire that turns into a candiru of all things. And if you've seen River Monsters that is the lil critter that crawls up your urethra

Piraya - Even though its depressing this is probably one of the best stories in the bunch about zombie piranha. Made me wish the next Piranha 3D would be zombie Piranha.

The Hanged Man - You know how every anthology has atleast one really stupid story that made you think what the hell did I just read? This is that story. Dumb

Something Fishy is going on - Ummm. I don't really know what to say about this one, it was kinda dumb, kinda disturbing yet a little interesting. One of those "meh" stories. Bout a guy who has a mail order bride that loves sex but for some reason won't let him actually see her no no place cuz....well something fishys goin on

Topwater - A story sort of similar to Brunch. This ones bout a evil lookin black shark with yellow teeth.

Daws - WereShark....yep.....Wereshark. If that gets your interest. You'll enjoy.

Searching for Sea Monsters - Another story I expected to see her. Rich guy gets creepy captain to take him out to catch something "special" and of course in good ole horror fashion, something goes wrong.

Lobster Stew - Enjoyable tale about a Giant Lobster thats not to happy about being captures and put on display in a tank in a resteraunt.

Death Row - Another great story about a guy who steals mermaid eggs.....and momma's pissed.

Jack Ketchum - The Girl Next Door

A very disturbing book about extreme cruelty inflicted on a teenaged girl and her little sister. The idea for the novel was based on a newspaper article the author read, which makes it even more disturbing. It certainly is a cruel world we live in and sometimes the scariest horror is all too real.

Just finished Alter of Eden by James Rollins. Good book, took some turns I didn't expect. If you know James Rollins then you know what your gettin into, and thats not a bad thing.

Now i'm readin City of the Dead by Joe Mckinney. It has its annoying parts, still got the characters that don't know how to kill a zombie even though thats obviously what it is. And they hall around an infected guy for a lil while when you as the reader knows damn well whats gonna happen to him. But other than the zombie cliches its pretty dang good. It doesn't let up in the action. None of that pulling you out of the action for flashbacks of the past BS. The zombie infection starts, and its balls to the wall from then on. So atleast its interesting.

EDIT: I just realized I said City of the Dead. Its called Dead City.

'Do I Come Here Often?', Henry Rollins.

167 pages short but still took me a little too long to read as I have become a lazy reader as of lately.

A great book with a lot of interesting insights. Part journal, part creative writing and part interviews, all interesting. Had interviews with David Lee Roth, Isaac Hayes, John Lee Hooker, Roky Erickson and Jerry Lee Lewis. Also had his very popular piece 'The Iron' in here as well.

'I Am Legend' is most definently on of my favorite books. Could see certain influences on books such as 'The Strain'. Reading this made me see how bad 'I Am Legend' the movie is. Pretty much no real relationship at all.

Haven't read much Stephen King but I did a book report on this in high school and really enjoyed it. May have to find another copy and read it again.

Spent the day reading the first two volumes of Hellboy. Never read it before but really great stuff.

reading On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers. Its the book the last Pirates of the Caribbean was loosely based on. And I mean loosely. Cuz while the book is very entertaning and very much worth the read, nothing that happend in that movie has happend in this book so far. And before that I finished Ghost Story in the Dresden Files and it was SO GOOD. Best series out there.

I was reading One Day by David Nicholls then I finished it last weekend. A very funny novel about friendship. This story is about a man and a woman who one day come together as lovers, then break up, but stay connected. A hilarious and realistic love story.

finished Godzilla 2000 by Mark Ceresini. What can I say? If you like Godzilla then you'll dig these Cerasini books. This one isn't based off the movie with the same name. Its its own storyline. Godzilla, Mothra (briefly), Rodan, King Ghidora, Varan and Kamacurus all make appearances. Most of the monsters don't meet in battle but it was still a fun read. The book was just taking the "world overrun by kaiju" approach. I dug it.

I'm actually reading 2 books at the moment. I dunno why cuz I never do that but it just sorta happend. Couldn't wait to read em both so I'm readin em both! First one is Slither by Edward Lee. Its about killer worms with the scientific talk of Michael Crichton and the "get naked and die" formula of a Friday the 13th movie. I'm lovin it. Lee is such a pervert haha. And I'm also reading Carnivore by Leigh Clark. Its complete cheese but its a fun book. Bout an antarctic expedition (theres always an expedition) that finds a frozen T-Rex egg and they used nuclear waste to hatch it and grow the T-Rex really fast, and of course it gets loose and starts chomping down on everything it can find. good times.

Robopocalypse

The Howling 1-3 by Gary Brander, very unlike the movies.

Room by Emma Donohue (a drama, told POV of a 5 year old who was imprisoned in a crazy man's makeshift slavequarters. Based on the weird true stories.)

Fluke by James Herbert (man dies and is reincarnated as a dog. fun read with some supernatural aspects.)

Mandibles by Jeff Strand (giant ants!)

Now I'm reading both Palahniuk's Lullaby and the classic Wuthering Heights, which is one of my favorite stories ever. Really enjoying Lullaby, too. It's my first of Palahniuk's works and I have several more on my kindle now bc I like it so much!

I just finished reading The Hunger Games, the book was pretty good. I was hesitant at first to read it, because I've lost much of my faith in modern young adult centered literature, due to the immense success of the book series that I refuse to say. At first I thought the book was just going to be a more tame version of Battle Royale, but it had enough eccentricities to distance itself from that. The characters were likable, and I found myself rooting for them, and also a death of a character that came out of nowhere was completely unexpected, and a little depressing. So far this year I would consider this the 2nd best book I've read. Coming behind The Strain, which is a perfect 10 book in my opinion.

Just finished reading the biography of SLASH. Not a bad read, was more interesting reading about the recording of the 'Appetite..' and 'Illusions' albums. Would love to read Axl Rose's side of the story, since he was the egomaniac of the band and how it came to be he ruled the band. 8/10

Started reading The Road. Kinda slow, but enjoying it.

I read it last year. It is pretty slow paced and repetitive. I thought it was ok for what it was, but personally don't think it deserved the Pulitizer it won.
I will say however that it's probably in my top 3 of the most bleakest and depressing stories i've ever read.

Lil overview: Bill's not overly bright, has no visible means of support, and lives with his dead mom whose social security checks will stop coming if anyone else finds out. What's a good son to do in a situation like this? Stick up the firecracker stand across the street with two buddies, naturally. But only Bill makes it out of the holdup alive, beaten down by exhaustion, exposure, and thousands of mosquito bites from the neck up. Rescued from certain doom by a traveling freak show, Bill exploits his hideous new looks to evade police. And he won't stand out too much among the dogmen, hermaphrodites, and the mysterious frozen man whose mute, sinister aura seems to tie them all together.

I'm blacklisting The Science of Stephen King. 15374

Was a waste of pages and ink. Full of scifi/horror science stuff you've read before and the authors at one point begin to describe Carrie's movie plot instead of the novel, as if they'd never read it.

Ive been wanting to read clickers for awhile. I'll eventually check that out when I find it at a cheaper price. Its one of those "indie" kinda books so it costs a little more. Theres 2 sequals I think. I just finished Return of the Wolfman by Jeff Rovin. Based on the old universal monsters and it has wolfman (duh) dracula and the frankenstein monster in it. If your into that sorta thing its a VERY fun book. And it took place after the events of Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein of all things.

just finished Primeval by David L Golemon. Its from his Event series and it was pretty good. Sort of a James Rollins action adventure type series dealing more with myths and legends. This one had Bigfoot in it. Not the best in the series but a fun read as all of the ones in the series are. And I'm about 100 pages away from being done with Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. Great book.
