"Early in the film he explains the origins of his trademark facial scars, and you worry for a moment that the filmmakers are giving this psychopath some kind of convenient explanation, which, talented though he was, Ledger won't be able to overcome. But by the third time he's explained where they come from – each time telling a different tale – you realize that Ledger was a master of his craft, only in his final years finding roles that truly offered him the chance to explore that mastery. His is the definitive movie Joker, and he owns the role and achieves a level of abject insanity that is terrifying as it is irresistible."

So do you guys think Heath will be as great as the article says or do you think they are just hyping it up because he died? I mean I have no doubt in my mind the role and the film will be good, but do you think it will be EVEN MORE glorified than it would have been just because of his death?

thats always a concern. Seems like everytime an actor dies that hype things like they never would have if the actor was still alive. But I myself think it will live up to it. Physically its a different version of J yeah but it seems like they got his attitude down perfectly for once.

This is a very anarchistic version and I loooooove that. Very Clockwork Orange to me. Joker really is THAT fucking nuts, and I'm glad their portraying him that way. I read how Heath always blinks really slow in this role. I wouldn't have even to do something like that, but I bet it will add to his creepyness.

No, Michael Caine was talking about his performance being great before he died. Caine even forgot his lines in one scene because Ledger scared the crap out of him.

I got this email last night from Hot Topic for a free ticket to The Dark Knight Screener, all you have to do is purchase $20.00 worth of Bat Man merchandise from the store (while supplies last). The catch? You have to live in Miami, LA, NJ, Houston and Chicago. Looks like Bale doesnt like Robin...

Batman Bale Says No To Robin
1 July 2008 11:49 PM, PDT

Batman star Christian Bale has declared he will quit the comic book movie franchise if producers ever decide to reintroduce the caped crusader's sidekick Robin.

Bale took on the role of the legendary action hero in 2005's Batman Begins and will be seen again in The Dark Knight, which is due for release later this month.

But the actor is hoping that the character of Robin is not brought back into any of future Batman movies - because he will resign in protest.

He says, "If Robin crops up in one of the new Batman films, I'll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work."

Nolan doesn't like Robin either, so if he comes back, Robin will remain no-existent.

For “The Dark Knight”, it isn’t funny.

I even asked a Backstreet Boy about it last night...

And I just bought a ticket online for the midnight showing at the local theater.

I can’t wait.

I only go to one theater and they only offered the normal viewing. I didn't want to go farther away just to see it on I-MAX.

Fun fact-Christian Bale audition for the role of Robin in Batman Forever. This means that the actor who was the second choice for Batman in Batman Begins would be Batman. That actor Jake Gyllenhaal. His sister is playing the role of Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight. Ironically, Bale lost to Gyllenhaal for the lead role in Jarhead.

I just hope Bale tones down his Demon voice thing he had goin when he was batman. I mean yeah we all know that the joker is gonna be amazing. But what about Bale? He made a great Bruce Wayne, no doubt about that. But just the way he talked as Batman reeked of lame.

Wayne disguises his voice so that no one can match it to his playboy persona. He's also very intent and driven once he puts on the mask, so his growl fits him more than his normal voice.

How To Promote A Dead Actor For An Oscar?
2 July 2008 10:37 AM, PDT

Although Warner Bros. marketing executives may have difficulty finding a tasteful way to promote the late Heath Ledger for an Oscar next year, it is virtually certain that his performance in the upcoming The Dark Knight will garner a nomination, Media by Numbers President Paul Dergarabedian told ABC News. Dergarabedian observed that Ledger's performance as The Joker in the latest Batman movie is a stand-out. "When he's on screen, you cannot take your eyes off him. And when he's off screen, you can't wait till he reappears on screen," Dergarabedian said. Before Ledger's death, he indicated, "There was this idea before that maybe he was a long shot to get a nomination. Now, if he were not to get a nomination, that would be a surprise." He acknowledged that hyping Ledger for an Oscar could prove tricky. "There's no way you're going to mount a best supporting actor campaign that has any vim or vigor and not look like you're picking the bones. The best thing to do is submit his name and leave it alone. Let the performance speak for itself."

I think he should deffinately have a deep dark voice, but I just couldn't take it seriously in the last one. I don't care what people say, I still think Michael Keaton was a great Batman.
