I was at the book store the other day and saw that one of my favorite authors, Robert Jordan, before doing his Wheel of Time series wrote three novels about Conan the Barbarian... They have collected the three books and bound them into one book... I'm curious if anyone else has read these and if so, is it worth plunking $15.00 down for it?

Actually, no I did not get the wrong author... I know very well that Howard wrote Conan... But also Robert Jordan did his own take on our favorite Barbarian.

Just finished reading this last night and it was damn fine stuff...
I know that a lot people that have read Robert Jordan's work tend to have a problem with his wordiness... As someone once said to me, "he'll spend 2 pages describing the left sock being by the third guard on the right in front of the castle gate."
Granted, his vivid descripitionary prowess has never bothered me, but for those that it does, these books, while still exsquisitely written, do not suffer from Jordan's usual wordiness. They are just good fun Conan stories.
As per usual, Conan is a bad-ass that generally no one wants to fuck with, and those that make the mistake of doing so tend to die.. QUICKLY.
All in all, the collection is well worth reading, and I was very pleased to learn that there is a second collection of Jordan-Conan stories available as well... Soon I'll be picking that up as well.
I recommend this highly if you like a good story about the worlds most famous Barbarian...

I've become a big conan fan here lately. And after reading Howards stuff, I read this book your talking about and just couldn't get into it. I'm hesitant to read someone elses take on Conan. But after I finish all of Howards stuff I know I'll venture back into it, to see if anyone can pull it off.
