ALERT!!! (First off if you guys and gals don't know what HACKSAW is, go here: http://www.upcominghorrormovies.com/uhm/showthread.php?t=37104 )

Here's the problem...I'm really REALLY looking for an editor who can help me with the film. Yes I know I said I found one, but here's how much hell this film's been through...

1st Editor: He was over in Loveland and I kept visiting his house which was half an hour from my house and we were editing the film and finally getting to the end of editing it with cuts and such, and all we had to do was add in the music, credits and DVD menu...but after we finished cutting it we had a few weeks to wait on because he and his family were doing something and he slowly began to become extremely unreliable...and even told me they lost their computer, having it shut down or something...so he couldn't finish it.

2nd Editor: He lived closer to me, about two streets away, and we were cutting and editing it but we didn't get all the way to the end of cutting the movie but guess what happened? System Crash...yeah...his father luckily was a cool technition (I think that's how you spell it) and his dad finished fixing it, got it back a few weeks later...the info was all gone, it really wasen't his fault, so there's no way I could've ever blame him or call him unreliable, but he said he'll check it out once it's done.

And so that's the story...I don't know if there are any koolio editors out there in or around Cincinnati Ohio who would be interested in helping me, but I will really pay for your offering to help work on it with me, I really will.

Now I have to shoot a gore scene in another tape for the editor to put in the film, because I think that chainsaw scene still needs more...

I really want to start to edit it at the second week of August this year, of course, and get it finished before September so A) I can get the full copyright thing and Brain Damage Films deal over with, eventhough I know it'll take them time to see if it's worth for their company, B) I have something to watch on Halloween.

Please, please help me lift this film off the ground...? :( :shrugs:

And Swarez, I doubt you're reading this, but I apologize for arguing with you back on the other post on this film, I was just consumed of my determination on the film because of all the excitement...and I could talk to you about getting a more eye-catching cover to go for this...

Okay...if no one's really that willing to take the money and help me edit it...I guess I need someone to tell me how I can do it myself...

I need someone to tell me in detail of everything I list here:

-How to upload a video from a tape in a camcorder
-How do I attach it into Windows Movie Maker
-How do I put scenes together
-How do I cut scenes
-How do I apply dark-lighting
-How do I apply sound and music
-How do I change the motions
-How do I make things go black and white all over
-How do I add credits
-How do I get it all in a DVD menu
-How can I make a DVD menu
-How can I download it onto a DVD-R

If you can tell me any of this step-by-step...you're god...

Um, go to school for video production. If you don't even know how to log and capture, you need to learn the basics i.e. learn to walk before you run

Wow, you guys are buttholes. This IS a filmmaking forum. Toby, have you tried Craigslist or going to the nearest University to maybe find a student? Film students always need projects to turn in...maybe you could scratch their backs while they scratch yours. I would love to help, but I am as clueless as you are on this type of thing. Good luck dude.

I just looked at the thread you first made about the movie. You've got a great DVD cover, and for a first movie on what I'm guessing is a really low budget, you've got some pretty good effects. Wish I could help you, but I'm sure you'll get it off the ground if you keep at it. Every filmmaker's got his own horror stories about getting his first flick recognized, and now you'll have yours.

Good luck.

I got info from a buddy of mine about the usage of effects on the windows movie maker, so I know pretty much how to do it, and I figured if I have to get the film in the computer I have to connect it to a DVD player and download it onto the disc and put up all my info on it after. I think I've got the hang of it so far, now I need to get that tape back.

Hey
You still need an editor?
With "Giant Robot School Girls from Planet Tokyo" off until next year and my untitled horror film not shooting until december I have some time on my hands. I would do it for free. PM me if you need my services. :D

I've been told of how I can edit the film, with some of the effects I have on my Windows Movie Maker...I have a friend of mine who is going to download all the footage into a disk so I can start to edit it.

Could anyone tell me where I can download a software to make a DVD menu of my own, if anyone can tell me that could be koolio.

Thanks guys

And MisFit...I like your GoGo pic in your signature.

Hope All is well and resolved.

First of all, I know you "know" how to capture the footage now, but first off, what kind of camera did you shoot the film on? Does it have firewire or USB ports?

Do you have a firewire card on your computer? What kind of processor and how much memory do you have in your computer? Is your friend who is goign to burn the footage to DVD, Is it going to be in Playable DVD format for DVD players, becuase if so, the VOB files that it generate will not be able to be brought into Movie Maker like that.

Just some food for thought.

I don't make it around these forums much, but will try to check back to see how you are coming along.

Just have to download it all on a DVD-R and it's playable on any DVD...

In that case, to get it onto the computer is not as simple as putting it in the computer and clicking to "Download Me".

When you put the DVD into the Drive, you will have to click right cilck on it, and choose to "explore". That will open up the folder. Choose the Video_ts folder. Look for the .Vob files. You will need to copy these onto your harddrive.

Then you just need to find a converter to convert the files from.vob to your choosing (I would recommend .avi) One that I have used occasionally is Any Video Converter, however, I don't remember where I got it from.

Added some audio FX, and I might have shaved a few seconds here and there. But it's essentially the same.

Anyone know what I need to obtain or how I can change certain voices into a demonic-like voice to go with it? Here's an example..play the story here: http://www.finalrune.com/dark-passenger/ ....and listen around from 00:20:32-00:20:39 what can I do to change some voices in my film to sound just like those demonic installments?

I'm a bit confused... are you editing this feature film with windows movie maker?

That's near impossible, not only does it not have quality features, but the program itself seems to always randomly crash, even on nice computers. I don't know how far you are but i'd suggest downloading a 30-day trial of the latest adobe premier, or which ever version you're familiar with. It won't have all the options but it's pretty user friends and will work much better than movie maker.

Toby
09-23-2008, 01:44 PM
Okay, sure I could look for that, but could you tell me about the voice-changing thing I was awaiting an answer for all this time as well?

Oh great...now I feel even more depressed...

A DEPRESSED psycho killer, everyone...

My friend's computer crashed using the same thing...ugh...I can't afford a new movie-making program for my computer, it'll take too much time...

Dr. Phibes

You can't afford to make a movie without the proper tools, either. And that includes post-production. You've got too much invested already to take bad shortcuts now.

well actually on the Adobe Premier trial version it allows you to manipulate the speed of the sound of the voice, as well was the pitch and frequency and all that. And from the clip you provided it sounds like all they did was slow down regular audio and tweak it a little.

Don't you just hate it when you see or hear things you want to create and think it's so hard to make it on your own when it really isn't? :P Thanks thorn
