Well unless you guys and gals dont read the news then you dont know that a catagory 0ne hurricane is headed to where i am in southeast texas. Im from tennessee so i have never been in a hurricane so even the notion of it frightens me. I want to leave corpus when i get orders from my command to go but I dont know anyone who lives in texas away from this area and i have two cats. If worse comes to worse Ill have to pay 300-500 for a hotel in san antonio that allows pets unfortunately for me when i was looking most of the hotels were taken I hope and pray that i can find one in case we have to leave (me hubby and the kitties) So lets hope that nothin happens and that i can be on uhm for the next four days otherwise im stuck in san antonio. Sucks for me right?

You're lucky it's not a Category 5. If that were the case, get out of there. I heard of some people just riding through it. Category 1's don't do a lot of damage, but that's not to encourage you to stay. You can still get some wicked weather; like tornadoes. Seeing the direction the system's moving, I suggest you head NE if you're going to leave, since the system's moving NW.

Sorry to hear this. Stay safe. I think I've been through 2 hurricanes here in NC, but they weren't the hardcore ones. Can be pretty freaky going through. I've also had a tornado drop down about a mile away from here when I was sleeping. Nothing is more harsh than mother nature :die:.

I've been through a few myself. Even though I live about 60 some miles away from the Jersey Shore, I still feel some of the effects of a hurricane if it touches down near NJ. The last one that came through my way was Hurricane Floyd back in '99. The most it did around me was rain like hell and the occassional gusty wind.

You're lucky deathslasher. You live on the West Coast, which RARELY gets a hurricane. If you do, they don't even touch land from what I've noticed.

Please be safe Toxic!

Did it just get moved up to a hurricane like in the last few hours because when I was watching the weather channel(we had a severe thunderstorm roll through)it said it was just a tropical storm? Either way be safe i've never been in a hurricane except for when Opal came all the way up here but it didn't do anything. But I have had a tornado come down and rip the roof and porch off my house before and i'll say that isn't a fun situation.

why in the world did they name it Dolly. Well in all seriousness I hope everything turns out alright, keep hold of them cats! They might get scared and try to run off. But hopefully the worst that will happen is you'll get a bad storm. Your from tennessee? What par? I live close to Knoxville in East Tennessee.

Good to hear that you're doing alright. Always concerned about the safety of my fellow UHM members. :coolbeer:
