SC4 had some pretty nifty achievements that incorporated it's complex fighting mechanics. I guess this game is going more for fandom than depth.

Overall I think this is a kickass roster IMO.

Being a fan moreso of MK, the REAL intrigue of this game for me is easily the DC side of things.

You will have ALOT of MK fanboys boycott this game because their favorite character or that character didnt make the cut. Still im quite happy with both sides of the roster.

And with the rumored 'downloadable' content. Dont think for one second that Midway and DC wont milk this game for all its worth and add downloadable characters to satisfy some out there. Thats not to say they wont limit the amount of downloadable characters. Still if they did that, it would be a dumb idea.

I expect the 3 best DC characters to be the Flash, Green Lantern, and Superman, in that order. From what I've seen with the Flash, you can literally run around your opponent and use quick attacks. I'm sure that if you perfect his moves, you'll be able to get a flawless victory every time. With Mr. Hal Jordan, the ring will probably allow you to attack your opponent from the opposite side of the screen. Superman should be a good character, too, with stuff like heat vision, ice breath, and flying attacks.

Midway hasn't been a good developer for a long time.

Hell it took MK what 300 games before they decided to change the engine for MK4 and then again for MK DA.

MK is their best franchise IMO and yet they really could put ALOT more into it, instead they water it in mediocrity.

Im still a big fan of MK and this new crossover is aight with me, it will breath some new life into a rather stagnant series. Still story mode aside and the new DC side of things. This game has to prove to be faster than MKA, MKDA and MKD.

MK should be fast, not slow controlled fighting IMO.

It was still pretty unimpressive to me...pretty much what I'm expecting this title to be.

I mean seriously, lets look at the downward spiral that is the MK games. The graphics are always sub-par, the voice-acting/storytelling is atrocious, and the characters have become dull and predictable. The only good thing you can count on is the fatalities in all their bloody glory.

Ok lets take those down a notch (Mature to Teen rating). What do you have? Not much. Then they add the "test your might" mini games in the fights. Those look like slow, boring interruptions to the flow of action to me.

I can't think of any other developer that churns out more consistent mediocrity than Midway. I really don't see this being a AAA title this year.

That gameplay video Cmurder posted reassures me that at least the speed is back. That was really my only concern with this game. The last few MK's have been slow, clunky fighters while this game looks like the speed has returned.

On a side note. The DC characters definitely look like they'll have an abundance of cheap tactics.

What a bunch of bull shit. Fuck Midway and their sell-out attitudes. And to think I had a shred of hope for this game.

It all comes together quite easily actually. They know they're gonna post a loss, so what do they do to try and beat that? Spend millions of dollars on licensing to use DC characters in their mediocre fighting game. Oh yeah, and part of the contract states the game can't be as violent as the others in the series. So now they post a 76 million dollar loss in hopes they will be redeemed with their last "big" title of the year.

Basically they had to choose between the "fans" of MK and what they thought would make them more money. We see which one they picked. I hope market competition does what it's supposed to do and Midway eventually is phased out. You can't pump out sub-par games and post quarterly losses forever.

I got a feeling this game will blow. I heard they've edited the Joker's fatality to keeping the head shot but having the opponent off screen when shot so no one actually can see the opponent shot. LLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAMMMMMMEEEEE

I must say its a real good game, looks good, plays good

The cut scenes are good and voice acting is pretty good too. The acting itself isnt bad either

IGN's review really confused me. They gave the game a 7.5, yet talk about how lame the fatalaties are and how the game offers basically 6 hrs of gameplay and a run-of-the-mill MP. Basically just like I suspected it's another "meh" title from the king's of mediocrity, yet somehow it still manages to get a semi-positive score.

So what is the verdict for those who have bought this game?

The story mode cutscenes from what I've seen look epic as hell and I hear it plays somewhat like the Ultimate MK3 which sounds fine with me despite the mediocre reviews the game is getting.

Biggest grips people have in reviews from what I've seen is just the toning down of the MK gore/fatalities and lack of unlockables so far. If really that's all there is to complain about then the game sounds like a fun game at the least.

yeah story mode is cool, the game rules. It does play similar to the old MK games, I'm pwning with Scorpion. Theres little gore, but it doesnt matter its MK vs DC, if it was MK vc Chaos! comics and no gore, then I'll be :mad:

Ok to be completely honest... the game is awesome.

I was very pissed off when they first announced this game but now I take back everything I said. They actually pulled it off. :greetings:

Story mode takes about 12 hours to beat. The voice acting is is great. There are some very cool and epic matchups (Superman vs Raiden, Kitana vs Wonder Woman, Subzero vs Bataman). The cutscenes with Joker and several others will have you laughing your butt off.

The gameplay is pretty much like Mortal Kombat 3. There could be more bonus content but you get to unlock the boss characters and there's gonna be two downloadable characters next month (Reptile & Two Face).

When I say 12 I mean 4 - 6 hours for the MK half and 4-6 hours for the DC half. Yes those characters are said directly from Ed Boons mouth.

I am not a gamer, but a friend rented this and we all had fun playing it. After playing story mode while everyone was passed out I got pretty familiar with the moves and was kicking everybody's ass later.
