Science meets food as Ted Allen and his band of culinary sleuths conduct experiments to find the truth behind all of your burning food conundrums. What’s the deal with the 5-Second Rule? God, i would tear Giada apart.

I like the show with that nerdy guy that shows a bit of the science behind cooking and baking.

And does anyone else think that Sandra Lee (I think thats who I'm thinking of) has an older pornstar look to her?

Back when my first kid was really young, I got sick of MASH and serial killer shows all the time. Especially around him. I started watching the Food Network just to have something thoughtful and non-violent around.

I didn't see it all getting popular as much as the effect of it getting more popular. A lot of that lower budget, more personal feeling left the channel.

Great. Now instead of a psychopathic murderer kid you'll just have a morbidly obese one. :D

Can't stand the food network but as a kid here in canada I used to watch a cooking program... Cooking with James or something on CBC.

My wife is addicted to this channel.
Some I can stand, some are great to watch like Iron Chef, some of those "road food" shows, and some of the personalities are fun to watch like Alton Brown and Guy Fietti, but some shows/personalities are fucking mind numbing like Rachel Ray, Bobby Flay (biggest douche in the world), Emril, the Nealy's.

Oh and speaking of Giada...when my wife puts her on the TV, I sit down and roll my eyes with a "sigh" to make her think I don't like watching her but I'll sit there and stare whistfully at her amazing cleavage for 30 minutes.

Grilling with Bobby is a painful watch.

You can tell the dude is a genuinely smug prick that thinks he is the absolute best cook on the face of the earth... that's why I like watching Iron Chef, just for the chance to see that asshole lose.

Molto Mario rules!!!!

Mario is a mad mofo in the kitchen... and he is like the exact opposite of Flay... His demeanor makes one think he's probably a nice person to be around...

I remember one episode of Iron Chef, someone challenged Mario and they revealed the theme ingredient was to be Parmesian Cheese... The challenger should've just walked off the stage right then and went home.

Mario + Parmesian = culinary ass-whoopin'.

and an ass-whoopin' was what the challenger received...

Is Giada that pretty one with the big smile?

I sometimes watch this channel. Like when there's nothing to eat at my house! :cussing: My favorite show has to be "Unwrapped" with Marc Summers. I love watching candy being made. I sometimes watch that lady with the accent that says "oll" rather than "oil". And "Barefoot Contessa"...c'mon, with a title like that, it's worth watching. Even just to laugh at it.

I love Next Food Network Star because it is pretty interesting to get a background on some of these guys. At first I thought Guy Fiere was going to a be a douche from the way he dressed but I learned not to judge a book by his cover. I enjoy both of his shows, he makes some great looking food. Alton Brown is someone I always like watching because his personality is great. I like Bobby Flay because he reminds me of Gordon Ramsay. :ahheh:

Iron Chef America is pretty good too.

Great. Now instead of a psychopathic murderer kid you'll just have a morbidly obese one. :DNah. Superhero cartoons and the Wii. Much more active now.

We thankfully moved to a bigger house since then, and the kid is a couple of years older. The wife can watch all the dead people she wants while my son and I play Baseball in blessed air conditioning.

Yeah I hear you can burn a lot of calories trying to find an actual good game for the Wii...:ahheh:I haven't been a hardcore video gamer since that fateful day when I kissed a woman. Besides, Resident Evil 4 actually has decent controls -- breaking tradition with the rest of the series. (That's for when the kid is elsewhere, however.)

Anyway, like eMpTyVee, Food Network was more fun when it was just getting started.

Love this stuff.

My current favorite is No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain on the Travel Channel. Nothing like sending a chain-smoking, hard-drinking chef on a culinary tour of the globe.
