Anybody here have an allergies (minor/serious)?
I only have one allergy that I know of that's to Ceclor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceclor). It's a type of medication to treat certain types of infections. I always have to inform medical staff whenever I'm in the hospital that I'm allergic to it. Otherwise, if I'm treated with it, my throat will close up and I'll die. :shakes:

Things I'm allergic to:
1. Penicillin and any PCN derivatives....if I take these, they make me die. I won't even go near anything moldy.
2. Pollen.
3. Some chemical they use in those big industrial floor buffers/waxers....if I go to Wal-Mart at night when they are using those things, I have to get out of there fast or I start to break into hives on my hands. The longer I stay, the worse it gets. Sometimes it affects my breathing.

I'm allergic to a lot during about one particular week of Spring when everything is blooming. Other than that I'm just allergic to cats. Demon beasts I say.

I love it when i get to educate others involving medicine
1. That thing that makes your throat close up when you have a serious allergic reaction is called Anaphylactic shock....this is very serious if you ever expierence anaphylactic shock you only have a small window of time to get treated with epinephrine before your bronchioles close up. NOTE::: If you are someone who can possibly expierence anaphylactic shock due to environmental factors ( i.e bees, certain chemicals, food allergies ) You should keep an epi pen handy it will save your life. They are about 15 bucks..last i heard you can purchase them from your local pharmacy but you can also get them prescribed to you as well.
2. If you are allergic to pollen, rag weed, dust this is considered seasonal allergies.
seasonal meaning that you mostly expierence this is certain seasons.
3. If you are allergic to certain drugs make sure this information is kept on your person.
I love educating got any questions for me?????

When I have allergic reations, I tend to break out in hives and my chest feels like it's got a 150 lb weight on it... I used to just take a couple of benedryl and just suffer through it... then I mentioned it to my doc, and he told me, and I quote, "What the hell is wrong with your head, you fool? When your having a reaction like that, you are a hair's breadth from being DEAD... next time you have an attack like that, get to the emergency room!"
I like my doctor... he talks to me like a friend would....
Suffice to say, the next time I had an attack, which has only been once since, I went to the emergency room... and I'm glad I did. Instead of suffering for an hour or two, I got on the benedryl I.V. and I was feeling better in minutes and it knocked me the fuck out.

I used to have asthma about 10+ years ago. But for some unknown reason which I cannot explain, it simply just went away. :hmmm:
I might have a new allergy forming which I was not aware of. When I was on vacation in NC this year, I'd get a tremendous amount of hives up and down my arms whenever I would apply sun tan lotion to them. I found it very strange since I've never had this reaction in previous years. :shrugs:

That's true. My mom said the exact same thing. She's a nurse as well, so she would know these things.
