for those of us who have kids, and like to brag about them. since there isn't really a thread that is devoted to our little uhmers in training, i thought that i would start one. for those of you who don't have kids of your own feel free to brag about your little siblings, nieces, nephews, etc.
in a few years, these kids could very well be the future of uhm and i think that there should be fair warning about them. (kidding)
yesterday my kids went to the pool and my oldest (evan) jumped off the diving board and did a belly flop. my youngest( not to be out done) tried the same and failed, doing more of a butt flop. it was quite amusing

My baby brother, who us a bit over one, can almost say my name. He recognizes my picture, even though I haven't seen him in almost two months. My name is the first and only one he can almost say right now, besides Mama and Dada.

I have a four year old boy. He loves superheroes, so watching cartoons with him is usually pretty alright. He also discovered some bands in my cd collection that I wish he hadn't, since pressing the "mute" button over all the dirty words is becoming troublesome.
Maybe I'll just need to re-edit in Audacity. Yeah.
He also demands to be read to before bed every night, then tucks his books under his pillow so he can cuddle with them. Awesome.
My second is almost eight months old. In the course of watching them both myself for two days straight, he learned to sit up by himself (Wednesday) then pulled himself up to his feet by himself (Thursday).
These are the only two I will ever have. I love them both and want the best possible life for them.
And now it's time to go. My oldest wants me to vanish a quarter then pull it out of his underarm. It beats changing diapers.

I'm an uncle 3 times already but I have a three year old neice named Rayne. She's secretly my favorite.
We got into it one time at McDonald's though because when I got my order she called me fat. And no one gets away with that :karate:.

yeah try living with a 12 year old girl... not a very pleasent thing. and i remember when i was that age and if i even thought about talking to my mom the way she talks to me i would have been knocked into next week.
boo your neice is adorable!
luris: good luck with the music thing! i dont edit stuff for my kids tho, they know that there are words that they can say and not say. when my oldest was younger she used to call my friend a bitch all the time and my friend told her that if she ever heard her say that word she would have to pay 5 bucks. kid got no money never tried again.
death: too cute. kids that age are super fun! try teaching him huge words its so cute when they say stuff like "distugusting" when all the other kids say "yuckey poo"

My son somewhere picked up "You have the queer! You are a queer!" Considering my own bouts with homophobia, that shit just isn't flying. He doesn't know what it means, but I told him outright that those are words meant to hurt people.
His favorite song right now is Shut Me Up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZXU17ytvpg) by Mindless Self Indulgence. Honest. There are words you don't repeat, and there are entire albums you do not let a 4 year old listen to.
I can thankfully distract him with Green Jello (Rock and Roll Pumpkin, and not the obvious songs), Reel Big Fish or Ziltoid the Omniscient.
But when I get the chance, I also try to watch Blues Brothers or expose him to the meager amount of tasteful music I enjoy. I actually have a soft spot for Holst and Bach.

I have 2 nephews (9 & 8). I was a month away from being 12 when the first was born. Their dad turned 12 the day after I was born. Everyone thinks there mine when we're out in public. The youngest is my shadow, he wants to do whatever his Uncle Mac wants, so I got him watchin horror and listenin to a bit of Metallica and Misfits.

When my son tries to say "Spongebob Squarepants" it comes out "Pop Pop Shit"... he can sing the rest of the theme song just fine, but for some damn reason, Spongebob Squarepants always comes out as pop pop shit... I can't figure it out... but it amuses me...
My daughter has commandeered all of my Godzilla action figures... and she likes to tell me, "ee's godzilla... he's seeping... shhh.."

I also have to brag about my little cousin. He's seven years old and he's autistic. He's not where kids his age are. He doesn't talk as good, but he can still talk good, he's not really as mature, as in he cries and complains when he doesn't get what he wants. Despite this, he's a very smart kid and he's very sweet. He's always so excited to see people and he's such a nice kid. He's a great little cousin and it's really sad to see him struggle at things or if and when kids his age make fun of him.

"No no, that's mom's Transformer. You have your own."
My brother sent some Batman toys to everyone last Christmas. That has led to a handful of incidences too.

My dad always told me one of the main reason's he had kids was so he could buy them neat toys for HIM to play with... I can see that logic... I'll be buying my kids all kinds of neat toys for me to play with...

yeah, the old man buys transformers and stuff for the "girls" to play with. then when he goes to play with them the kids really are playing with them. its kinda funny

The kid wants to play with my toys more then I play with his. Although sometimes I will -- but I always ask permission.
The hope is that he will learn to ask permission. Then maybe some day all my best stuff won't be on the highest shelves in the house. It's getting crowded up there.
