View Full Version : Anybody familiar with Chicago?
Beware

I am traveling there by myself next week and I am taking the train from union station as well as taking the metra rail once I get there to get to places. However, there is a block of time that worries me. The first train leaving Chicago and going back to my home is at 7 am and both the train station and metra station close around midnight. I can’t afford a hotel, it would only be for hours and isn’t worth it. So I have like 5 or so hours to kill before I can wait in the train station. What do I do? What places are open 24 hours that wouldn’t mind me sitting there for hours? Do you think any nearby hotels or anything would let me wait in the lobby? Anybody know anything? It has to be walking distance from both stations though.

Wow, metra rail just saved my ass. They transferred me over to some lady who knew everything and she suggested Presidental Towers, which is huge and is walking distance from the station, its residential with coffee shops, restaurants and an atrium and she said they are open all night and they are bound to let me roam around in there for hours as long as I buy coffee or something lol.
Yay.
She did mention it isn’t bad down there, that a lot of walker bys are friendly, etc.
So I am set.

I don't live in Chicago, but close enough.... only about an hour south on the rails to get to union station. Agree on the pizza comment.
