Now that I have a 3 month old, I have been thinking about my own childhood growing up. I was one of the lucky one's have great parents to this day, I guess one of my favorite memories growing up was my dad coming home from work and watching G.I. JOE with me, simple stuff like that sticks with me. There are many others but that's what comes to mind right now. How 'bout you, could be a movie or your first sporting event. Just post what you liked about your childhood.

I remember when I was a wee little beasty... prolly around 6 years old, my mom and dad would take me out to go visit my Grandpa and Grandma out on the farm....

my grandma would let take a beer out to my grandpa who was out mowing or bailing hay... I'd walk waaaayyyyy the fuck out through pastures and shit with a miller lite till I found the hay field that grandpa was driving his tractor through... I'd waive him down and give him the beer..

Grandpa would share the beer with me... which is primarily why I did it... the beer was half warm by the time I'd get it to him, but he always swore it was the best tasting beer he ever had... Not knowing any better, I always agreed.. looking back it's pretty funny...

It was just something very cool between us... My grandpa was righteous dude...

Funny thing is, that nowdays letting a child go walking through the back forty of a farm by himself with booze to give to his grandpa would be grounds to take the kid away....

The world is kinda fucked up...

A favorite childhood memory of mine which still sticks to mind is my dad watching and loving every minute of Ren & Stimpy with me.

At the time Ren & Stimpy came out, most adults at that time found the show pretty vulgar and offensive. My folks were pretty cool with the cartoons I watched and Ren & Stimpy was no exception. My dad started watching the show with me and has loved the show ever since and has become a real fan of voice-actor, Billy West. I can still remember the times when he laughed the hardest at the characters stupid antics and times where we'd repeat quotes from the show.

When I got the DVD of the first and second show, he would ask me every month to watch episodes with him and I'd watch with him. This is one of the best memories I have which still continues to live on to this day!

Probably hanging out with my brother, on our huge property behind our first home.. It felt like the entire world, left for me to explore, I miss those feelings..

Getting up early for Saturday morning cartoons and spending summers on my grandparents farm are two that come to mind.

Another great memory for me was when I was about 12 a bunch of the neighorhood kids and myself on Saturday evenings in the summer just after dark,we would have a couple kids go and hide somewhere around town on their bikes then the rest of us would ride around until we found them...it was fun at the time.

Another we called Shoveling us kids would sneak some beer and would go out of town (this is when I was about 15)until we found a counrty road not traveled very often that had an intersection with a stop sign next to a cornfield.
Well,we would take a new scoop shovel and set it right next to the road kinda by the stop sign and we would tie a rope to it and sit in the corn field drink our beer until a car would stop and when person would get out to pick the shovel up,at that moment we would pull the shovel in the cornfield..........awwww I still chuckle when I think back to some of the screams I would hear those nights.

My first kiss. I was about 8 and fell in love with a doll that lived down the block from me at the time. She caused fireworks to go off in my mind.

One of the best memories I recall from my childhood would be the once a month Pay-Per-Views for wrestling that would come on. My entire family would gather to watch them. Aunt, Uncles, Cousins, Grandfather, everyone. It would be the loudest house on the block.

That also reminds me of the time we ordered a Mike Tyson fight on PPV. It was the first time we ordered a boxing match. It cost 60$ and Mike Tyson knock that fucker out in the first round. My mom was sooooo pissed. She paid 60$ for a fight that lasted less than 2 min.

Those are some good stories. Its funny cause reading some of them reminded me of some similar memories...My pop's out of nowhere in the middle of the night would tell me get ready lets go fishing!! It would be 9:00pm or so, the drive would take 2hrs just to fish off a pier for another few hoursa. Sounds stupid but shit like that will always stick with me.

I remember my first Rockets game I went to at the Summit vs. the 87 Bulls, that's when my love for the NBA and Jordan took off and to this day I still have the ticket stub in mint condition.

In the 80's WWF was a kid's dream, got to watch Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior fight The Million Dollar Man and The Honky Tonk Man live at the Summit. Shit was INSANE! We had tickets up front but against the rail so when the wrestlers came out you can give them high-fives, I remember when Warrior ran out I grab one of his strings that would hang from his arms and I thought I was gonna die!! LOL.

Playing organized baseball from the age of 5 till I was 13yrs. old.

My mom coming home from the VIDEO store (remember those) with the Friday the 13th's and NOES's, it's funny cause I owe my mom for my love of horror flicks. I would stay up and watch The Twilght Zone and Tells From the Darkside with her.

Great thread.

Pickup games of rumble fumble, football, sneaking through this pathway behind the woods of our house at the time to play baseball at colombia field. Riding around town on bikes and sometimes skates. Having fights with bitchy neighborhood punks who would move away only to be replaced by other punks.

Crush as well when I was in 3rd grade cept her cousin was a bigtime punk who would always give me shit throughout the years until he forgot about me. By that time me and this girl were no longer friends and we just sorta forgot about each other. I see her from time and time. I heard she went through some big shit in HS, had a brain aneurism (spelling) and never quite recovered and like everyone else from my class. Has a kid with no husband/boyfriend around.

Those were the days, those were the days.

Back in the day (yeah I'm an old fart), my dad would pack my older brother and myself into his '66 Lemans and drive us to the drive-in theater.

We'd pop our own popcorn, enough to fill a paper grocery bag. It was even more exciting if we had to get our pajamas on first, 'cause that meant it was an all night festival. They would show all the Planet of the Apes movies in one night or a bunch of Godzilla flicks.

I was young and rarely stayed up all night for the whole thing, but I'll always remember how cool it was. It realy kick started my love for sci-fi/ horror movies.

Kinda bums me out that there aren't any drive-ins around in my area any more. I think my kids would love the experience as much if not more than I did. I try and have little home film festivals for them on dvd, but I don't know if it will create the same good memories I have of those drive-in nights.

I have been living my greatest and worst memories these past few and upcoming years.

I would say the time that I miss the most were playing basketball in the 9th grade. I was a stud and always had the most points on that team and we only lost one game that year. I played til my senior year and got cut from the varsity team. Funny how things change that quickly.
