Well we don't exactly know yet, but keanu Reeves should be out of the question:nono:, and by this being a live action flick, the budget would be very insane but who could actually play spike and the other characters that surround him in one of the most famous japenese animes ever?

Well I was thinking about something when I posted that bulletin on it a while ago, then it just came to me who could really pull of spike, Josh Harnett, IMO, I mean he has the attitude and if you have seen the faculty you really see that he resembles spike, so what do you think, who can play Spike?

Should be posted in non horror movies...not general chat.

No idea on who would even be good for that part really and I have the entire cowboy bebop set plus the movie.

Since this is relating to the anime I'm moving it to the Anime forum.

Keanu would have to be my best bet, because he's more thin like Spike and can be tough and I'd like to see how they make him act playfully like Spike does, but try to lighten up the dark voice he has. Josh Harnett is good, but he seems to be a bit too dark to play as Spike or any character for that matter. Spike is not really dark in any case, sure he says he doesn't protect innocent people yet stops the bad guy from murdering an old lady, but that's just him acting without a plan and yet having a plan all along.

Dispite the fact that this thread should die... I'll comment.

In dealing with a source anime so well liked by the genre fans, the best approach is start fresh. Big names, like Reeves, would never been seen as Spike or the other characters. Viewers would see Neo or some other previous role and not accept the actor as Spike. Find yourself a new actor, someone with no big role overshadowing their role and let the viewers see Spike and not the actor. Plenty of young talent out there without anything hanging over their head. Bebop doesn't need a big name actor to sell the film, its Bebop after all.

Very well said. I'm just getting tired of big named actors seeming to get the ride onto productions like this with Anime-going-American-cinema. And it should be more about the character, not the actor.

As long as it's not keanu reeves i'm happy. I don't see it working if he plays spike.

Hmmm like everyone else I don't want to see Keanu Reeves play Spike. His acting well, sucks. He plays the same type of character with the same voice in every movie since The Matrix, so he should be out the door. Josh Harnett COULD work. But I agree fully with slimeisacharacter on this one. We need fresh talent. Also what about the other roles besides Spike? who should play Jet? Faye? and Edward?

Well...how can I answer that about the other roles if we're looking for "fresh bait" for these parts?

Mickey Rourke, Ron Pearlman or Sam Elliott could play Jet, these are just random guesses whether they should be good choices or not.

Other than that I'd think Scarlett Johansen or Eva Mendes could be a good and sexy Faye, sorry if it's big-named but yeah...and sorry Angelina Jolie but you're not good enough.

I don't know who could play Ed, I guess Devon Aoki but I've never heard her voice, she's my favorite character, but I guess we'll never know. But I just don't care for these pictures because Hollywood only does them to sell for a quick buck, it can never be good unless there was a good enough director and cast and story.

I hate the show, but I agree with your pick of Ron Pearlman. I can see him as Jet.

Hmm I love the show, it's one of the few anime's I can stand. But yes I actually agree with Ron Pearlman too, the voice is close enough to Jet's and he's also a big dude.

Alright, who's ready to riot against Hollywood, and if they don't give into our demands we burn them to the ground...like the Spartains did the Siberians...

Yes there is a live action Cowboy Bebop coming out, I forgot which film studio bought the rights to it, but it is happening. And you should know it takes a WHILE for some movies to get off the ground, from finishing the script, to getting greenlighted by the studio, casting, etc... I just hope it doesn't take TOO long
