I live close to and work in Knoxville,TN. There was a school shooting yesterday in a place called Central Highschool. It feels kinda surreal I guess. Knowing that happend just down the road. A 15 year old kid was shot and killed. Fuckin 15. Dunno what it was over yet, but they know the guy that shot him was gunning for him and not just anybody. He's in custody, and I think he's the same age. And then it comes out that this kid sister is wanted by the police. Wanted for what? Murder of all things. She shot somebody too.
All this is just blowing my mind, and now a kid is dead. These highschools are gonna become a prison with all the security before its to long. But damn its getting to wear its understandable. They dunno why he did it but they said it wasn't a racial thing (killer was black, victim was white) and of course everybody starts with the race question when somethin like that happens. I'm hoping they charge him as an adult myself. He should get thrown in jail for a long time if not the rest of his life, considering it sounds like his entire family is this nuts. How far do you think they should go with security in schools?

This has been going on since the 90's. But every year it gets like this a teen does something really stupid and decides he wants to shoot up a school for whatever reason if by being bullied or killing someone over religion and practically hate others to a content to where he would take a gun and pull it on another kid, and then take the gun and commits suicide because he would rather take the easy way out than rather go to jail.:dsp:
In this case and others metal detectors and sniffing dogs would be an easy way to prevent this as well as total lockdown to secure safety to the kids than having to go through a situation like this.

"And now he's grounded with no allowances
for drinkin forty ounces, cause he was caught by his counselors
And why the fuck I gotta ride the bench coach?
Already got expelled for wearin a trenchcoat
All I ever seen is.. {violence, violence}
Told me to keep silent, stepped back in my eyelids
It's apparent that my parents weren't parents at all
That's why I blew out my brains and murdered you all" :hmmm:

Can we just stop with these school shootings already?! God, I thought we would learn from Columbine and Virginia Tech already that this is not the answer. There are so many other ways to deal with anger (of course that's easy for me to say).

 I have to agree with you but when are people ever going to learn that violence is not the answer:shakehead
What has become of us?
Chasing the avalanche down,
Watching the world on TV,
Must be something better on.

The kid also needs some counseling, locking them away isn't always the answer.

I believe my graduating class (04) was the last class in which had a camera/security free school.
Since then, I've heard they put cameras on the inside and outside of the building along with new locking systems and the place is under 24 hour surveillance around the clock due to some bomb threats over the last few years.
Maybe school was never a safe haven. Guns are easily accessible, whether buying or stealing, they can be acquired. People use them to solve pitiful angst drama instead of just confronting problems head on.
Granted there are two sides to everything. No way meant to justify a shooting but sometimes these kids turn around and use weapons either because they could feel alone or feel the odds are overwhelmingly against them in terms of confronting someone or someone who has a group of cronies who will help them in a gangbang effort against whoever the contronter is.
All that said, it seems like its going to get alot worse before it gets any better. Some of it is also strikes me as a '15 minutes of fame' type of ordeal like the VT shooting. The fact that news outlets gave that fucking pos airtime with his little video goes to show networks will do ANYTHING for ratings.
Fuckin balloon like.

It is almost always 15 minutes of fame, as it has been since Columbine. That's why those two little assholes did it to begin with.
It's also 15 minutes of quality programming for anyone with a camera. That's why we keep hearing about more of it. Although, to be fair, the kid near Chief seems to have done it to settle a grudge. For that reason, I doubt we will hear about it all.

This is definitely nothing new in the US. And that's precisely why people need to take better steps to prevent this kind of thing. BETTER steps, not that crap they tried after Columbine.

Locking his ass up sounds about right for this case.

i heard that the kid that got killed had some sort of disease or condition that made him bald and he was constantly picked on at school.. you would have thought he would be the shooter, not the shootee.
either way its sick and wrong and so very sad.

The shooter lived. That alone loses cool points with the six o'clock news. One victim? Innocent Bystanders also make for compelling coverage.
The price of admission is going up, but it was already higher than this.
