Yep.

All of Mikey Crichtons novels get fucked.
Jurassic Park the movie was sick but still..
And andromeda strain, yuck, that movie blew, book better. But sphere was kinda cool for a movie

I've read 2 novels of his that I saw the film first, Congo and Jurassic Park. I was shocked to see some of the main characters who're enjoyable and likeable in the films where complet Dooches in the books. In Congo, the main scientist chick going for her fiancee, she cares only about the Diamonds. And I was shocked when I read how greedy John Hammon was in Jurassic Park. :oogle:

I thoroughly enjoy Crichton's work... the movies NEVER capture his genius...

A lot of times he starts out with a scientific timeline that begins in science fact, but ends in science fiction... most of the time, it's difficult to tell where the fact blurrs into fiction... righteous stuff there and the movies just don't have that...

Also, Crichton's books are written for adults, with adult themes, adult situations, and adult content... but for some reason, the movies are watered down for kids and teens.... that irritates me. For example, the book TimeLine was a violent, brutal book full of all kinds of fighting, killing and mayhem... the movie was a pathetic "hip" teenager action flick... fuckin awful....

I would agree that some novels get the shaft when it comes to movies but to say all counterparts are bad is untrue IMO.

On top of that, there are just too many nitpickers, bookworms out there that need everything laid out in detail if its going to be a movie. Nevertheless, I have no problem either way.

I read Jurassic Park n well theres just one scene that I HATE
in the novel

when theres a baby raptor and he comes to like the boys face.

That was so cheesy and was glad that was left out of the movie

Always felt his books tended to fall a little flat at the end. you start on the rollercoaster and suddenly find yourself on the merry-go-round.

I really think that too. They just don't capture the work from his books.

Thing of it was Speilberg made it well known before the movie was released that he had toned the storyline down quite a bit . I didn't care for the fact that some of the ones that died in the book lived at the end of the movie
