I just found out today that I have a business trip next week in Covington, GA. I Googled the town and found out that's where Friday the 13th VI was shot. I think I'm going to stroll around and check out some of the filming locations, and maybe go up to the nearby state park to see where the camp/cabin shots were done.

Any of you mofos ever visited some horror/non-horror filming locations? I don't mean New York City or LA, either. I'm talking non-traditional locations. I think visiting the locations, maybe even moreso than meeting the actors, is pretty exciting. I love putting the pieces together from what I've seen on screen.

Where ya'll been?

Only filming location I've been to was the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre house, now turned restaurant. Good food, plus I talked with the owner and he just told me a bunch of different stories of how far some people have traveled to go there and asked to have their pictures taken while acting stupid. (He didn't say they were stupid, but he should have.)

I just got back from LA and went to a neighborhood and took some creppy stalker pics of the original houses from Halloween (w/ the balcony MM fell from) and NOES (w/ green and red doors/shutters). I'll post em soon for shits and giggles.

Outside of LA, just a few places in Vegas where movies were filmed, nothing too special. And in Cal City, CA (outside of Edwards AFB) when I was younger, got to watch them film The X-Files movie w/ the beehives scene.

I could walk around the golf courses in my residence and see where Who's Your Caddy was filmed. But I would have to see the film to know where to go.

I have been to the exact places where I've filmed my movies, several times!

Seriously though, filming in your home messes you up :oogle: In Return of the Goremunching Zombozoid, there is a scene where it's dark but light coming from the doorway that leads to the kitchen, and I run from the Zombozoid and he comes right after. Every time I would have the lights off in the hallway but lights on in the kitchen, I felt like I was back in the movie. Stupid.

Living on the outskirts of Philadelphia. I've checked out a bunch of locations used in M. Night Shymalan's movies. Two of which (Lady In The Water and Signs) were filmed in my county in the neighboring towns right next to mine.

I've also been to Wilmington, NC countless times, nicknamed "Hollywood East", since it's the 3rd or 4th most popular filming location besides NY, LA and Chicago. The whole entire city is pretty much one huge movie set, since many homes and sites are used as filming locations. It's also the location of the popular TV series, Dawson's Creek, was filmed there as well as the current TV show, One Tree Hill. Wilmington also has an active Screen Gems Studio and Backlot which you can tour for free if you guys are ever down there.

My folk's friend lives in Southport, NC (30 miles South of Wilmington) which is also used heavily for filming locations. One horror movie in particular that was filmed there was I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Well I marched with a horde of zombies there. A lot of stuff gets shot in the pittsburgh area. Robocop's mill scenes were shot right across town. Currently shooting a cormac McCarthy adaption called the road. Smart people was shot at CMU. Spike TV shot a miniseries called the killpoint in downtown last year.

Goodluck recognizing anything in GA. It's probably been turned into a strip mall or applebee's by now.

We went to Seaside Oregon for our one year anniversary. The trip was amazing!

On the way is Astoria, OR. Famous for the Goonies and Kindergarten Cop - We took pictures at the Goonie house, then saw the school where kindergarten cop was filmed.

Nothing big, but being the HUGE Goonie Fan i am, I was stoked!

So I went to a few spots where F13 VI was shot the day before yesterday. I got a few nice shots I'll post later of the building that was used as the police station exterior in the film. Here are the actual screenshots of the building and the street it's on, I'll add my pics later when I get home:

Also, the camp used in the movie was "Camp Daniel Morgan," but after driving around for about an hour, I couldn't locate the camp in the area, only a different one by a nearby lake that wasn't Crystal Lake in the movie.

After looking at some of my screenshot printouts and comparing them to the cabins that I did find, I realized they weren't the same cabins. Same style, but none of them resembled the ones in the movie. I think they may have torn down the ones used in the movie, though I could be wrong.

I did, however, locate the actual lake that was Camp Crystal Lake in the movie, and to be honest, I can definitely see why they chose it as the shooting location. It's an area that's really isolated and creepy with a lot of overgrowth. I grew up in a wooded area in New Hampshire, but the woods I was trotting around the other day in Georgia were definitely some of the creepiest I know I've been around. In the hour-and-a-half I was there I saw no other person (at 4pm in the afternoon) but did see two deer. Like I said, it's very isolated.

One thing I couldn't help but wonder when I trucked around is how brave some of those actors were to move around those northern Georgia woods. I talked to a forest ranger who was outside the entrance of the park and he told me to be careful because there are a lot of poisonous snake species in the area. I'm surprised they didn't fear shooting those woods scenes knowing that. Many of the other Friday films were further north, where it isn't as dangerous to crawl next to logs on the ground when filming because poisonous snakes are extremely, extremely rare. They have signs all throughout the park in Georgia warning of the snakes. Crazy.

I know the cabin from the original Evil Dead was somewhere in Tennessee and not that far from me from what I gather. I know it burned down long ago, but I wouldn't mind walking around in the woods.

I've always wondered what the locations of Fridays 1 and 2 look like today.

I believe 1 was shot in Jersey. Part 2 im not sure but they look almost like the same location. Compared to Part 3 which was mostly located in Cali.
