I think it's somewhat important if you are the type that likes to watch movies together a lot. The last guy I dated was on the polar opposite spectrum of things. We went to a blockbuster and couldn't leave for 45 minutes because neither of us could agree on anything. He actually really wanted to watch Ella Enchanted and shit like that... I also think because I look like the absolute LAST person that would ever own a single horror movie, let alone over 1000 DVD's and VHS combined made it all the more shocking and difficult to accept.
But I did meet my b/f based on a mutual love of C.H.U.D. So if movie tastes matter i'm going to say in my case yes, since it's such a big part of my life. We differ in other ways, but in movies, we couldn't have more fun watching them together. To each his own I say.
