So that Joker tat I got last week was looking awesome. Soon it started to peel and whatnot, the usual. I didnt pick at it. Now a little over a week later it looks nothing like it did. I dont know it just really sucks, theres a little part near the mouth where the skin looks like its eating away. I put some neosprin on it but Im gonna go to minor emergency to see if its staph infection. It really sucks man I seriously loved how the tat turned out now it looks like complete garbage. Guess thats what I get huh.

If I was a civilian provider I could have you come to my clinic for an evaluation but im military so it makes it tougher but if you need to have it looked at for an opinion before seeing a doc i would be happy to take a look at the wound. Infection and allergic reaction is common for tattoos. Infection usually occurs when the needle used is not properly sterilized or the artist does not wear gloves or wash his or her hands before preforming the procedure. Allergic reaction can causes hives and itching but it wouldnt cause any sort of infection like wound like what you are describing. Infection is characterized by redness, warm and moist to the touch, visible pus (yellow or green or black typicaly). It can also become painful or itch. The area is also likey to spread around the whole site since the needle penetrated the whole area. You may also expierence flu -like symptoms due to the infection or expierence a fever. IF those ways are not how you caught the infection it is possible you were around someone who was already infected with strep or staph. All that person has to do is cough in front of you for you to catch it. then the bacteria couls settle in the wound this happens when the infection becomes invasive. or GAS for (Invasive group A streptococcus) remember if its only an allergy your skin can peel, itch, break out in hives (red bloches). If you want you can take a picture of it and send it to me and i can do my best to evaluate what i see......Im very good at this. I recently had a guy come into my clinic who was as red as a cherry on his face, neck, arms and chest. He thought he was suffereing from a heat rash....I explained to him it was an allergic reaction to something...he did not believe me....guess what??? MY doc said i was right it was an allergic reaction. (HAHAH DUMB PILOTS DONT KNOW ANYTHING) I also had a guy come in two months ago whom i diagnosed with Tinea Versicolor. Its a fungus that grows on your back in a christmas tree pattern. <<<< Im pretty good at this stuff so if you need my help just let me know.

you could be allergic to the red ink. for some reason red ink causes alot more allergic reactions that any other color. i have a couple of friends who do tats and they always warn people about that. and red ink fades faster too. idk why, it just does

Could also be a case what I went through where the artist dug in a lilttle to hard so when the peeling process began I was also losing skin. After it healed completely I was able to get it touched up.Good luck man tats are fun aren't they?:D

I stayed on the safe side and waited atleast a good two months. Its a pain in the ass I know. I just wanted to be damn sure it was completely safe to go back and get it fixed.Last thing I wanted was for it to actually get infected.
