I can't stress this enough, if you want to help stop the site from not loading or lagging, then I need help from you all. I've posted this before and I'm posting it again, because I never get much response back. If the site fails to load or lags way too much, do this:

On your computer go to START, RUN, and type CMD
Then type
tracert upcominghorrormovies.com
Let it run, when it's done, right click, select all, and copy it
CTRL+C if you don't know

This is important. It tells the server people what is wrong with your connection, and it may determine the problem, so it can finally be solved. I found out earlier that I share the same network with other sites, meaning, these lag issues may be due to another site hogging all the network space.

Either way, things like this can only be determined if I get this information from you guys. They need it from various people to see if there's a key element that's apparent in all visitors. You also have to follow these steps as it happens, so if you notice the page not loading, follow the steps, it's more effective doing it as it happens.

I'd recommend copying the above directions and pasting it in notepad or something, so when it happens you can just open it up and follow the steps. Once again, if we want to solve this connection problem, I need help from all of you, if I can get three or more that'd be great :thumbup3:

Thanks slayer, although it's more effective if you do it when the page fails to load as opposed to it simply lagging going from page to page.

Are you guys just doing this or are you doing this while having problems loading the page? Because I'm not experiencing any problems and it's more effective if you run these scans while you do experience issues.

I've never experience any major issues with the site, but if I do I will send you the report.
Te one thing that still bugs me about is that when I click on a thread and I am reading it from the top, it will automatically go further down when the page is done loading, I do not have this problem with any other message board, just UHM, but I deal with it, by holding the scroll bar on the side.

That's because you click the icon for the latest post. If you just click the thread title it doesn't take u to the bottom. :straightface2:

I've noticed most of the downtime is only existent with the message board. A lot of times when the board fails to connect, I can easily connect to the main page, so the problem lies somewhere within the board. I'll have to check more into this. It may be some sort of script issue or something.

FrighT MasteR
10-13-2008, 11:56 AM
After seemingly exhausting almost all efforts to find a solution to the lag/downtime issue, the server peeps finally decided to switch me to a different internal server. They said that I was basically on a somewhat "crowded" server before with a lot of other popular sites, so we'd be sharing the same bandwidth, and UHM would get the crap parts that likes to F up a lot.

They switched UHM over this morning, so some people might still be getting a "Forbidden" error saying they don't have permission to access the site. It's temporary. I know steelba is getting it right now and I'll have to assume others who aren't on right now are probably gettin' the same.

As for the new server -- I dunno if it's just me, but the board seems A LOT faster. No slow loads at all, and I can browse it like a lot of other sites I visit. Hopefully it remains at this speed for the rest of its time it's online. :thumbup3:
