Had this done last Monday and I've already been dropping pounds here, the pain gets worse during the night when I'm sleeping so I've been waking up in the early morning to crush more percocet. Sucks having this done as an adult.

I'm starving Marvin here, any suggestions on what's safe to eat? Trying to come up with some food ideas that wont cut up my throat, I already had to visit the ER on Thursday for some crazy bleeding. Thanks guys.

Ha... Alcohol will only increase the bleeding if he scraped his throat.

Yogurt
pudding
get some campbells
Bananas turn to mush when you chew them.

It sucks when you're on such a limited diet. I had an ulcer in my esophagus around christmas and couldn't eat anything solid for a week and had to avoid caffeine, alcohol, anything acidic or with vitamin C for 2 months.

here i thought it would numb the pain. one of my brothers has an ulcer in his esophagus, i dont know if it was caused by or contributed to his hyaital (sp) hernia, but he drinks like a mad man. wont eat spicy foods but wont give up his drink either

alcohol is a blood thinner and makes it harder for bleeding to stop, not good for internal wounds.

Yeah I'm sure satanocat was just joking about the booze, and if I had been drinking when I had that bleeding on Thursday I would have been a goner. My girl and I were just about to order some breakfast at IHOP when I started to taste blood in the back of my throat. I rushed to the restroom sink and spit out a ton of blood, it was spewing out like syrup.

She got me to this university ER which was one of those that criminals and people without health care go to but it was the closest one. They took too long to see me so my girl rushed me over to the military base ER and on the way I kept coming close to passing out so she kept squeezing my hand and yelling at me to stay wake. Luckily they called the ENT doc in time and he found the areas where the blood was coming out of and quickly cauterized it. You guys ever smelled burned flesh? Makes my breath smell awful, I don't know when I'll loose the taste of it from my mouth.

I seem to have the pain under control right this moment so I'm going to dive into this chicken right quick before it gets any worse. Thanks for all the input guys it really helped...

Your docs didn't give you a list of acceptable foods?

My tonsillectomy was a pretty bad case, I bled a lot during the procedure, and the doc warned my mom that because of it, I would take longer to heal and it would be a bit more painful for me. I always found it easiest to eat ice cream (soothing) and soup, but not tomato soup (or any other acidic kind), because the acidity makes your throat burn. Jello had more jagged edges on it than you would think, but it might work for you, so give that a try. Remember to drink plenty of fluids. Also, the more you are able to swallow and eat safely, the better you will heal.
