Review: Scream

[Prince of Horror]

Yes this is it, though I haven't fulfilled the full list of the good and bad horror movies of the 90's, I'm going to the gem that started them all, Scream. You wouldn't believe it but though to the popular success of the blockbuster hit and it's young hip cast, we got a little movies with young and hip casts and some became hits, when even got a halloween movie set in this period.

So the story centers around a girl named Sidney who is getting over a her mothers murder that happened a year ago. A year later she gets a phone call from a killer, who supposedly killed her mother, leaving an innocent man on death row named Cotton. But could the person targeting her be the same person who killed her mother?

Now this has to be one of the greatest movies within the teen years. For the simple fact that it makes fun of other stupid horror movies that have come out of the horror genre, and the make those points and also shows us how they get caught up in those situations. The characterization is great and the acting is great, coming from a bunch of rarely unknowns.

There isn't much for gore but we get some blood shed, well there is a image of a girl hanging from the tree. So I give this movie an 8, for it being very suspenseful and entertaining and for having one of the coolest mask in horror movie history.

Agree with steelba. The only good thing to come from the movie is that is got people interested in horror again. Unfortunately we now have an accumulation of terribly bad teen movies that will be hard to remember in 20 years compared to the classics before them.

I would only be able to give this a 6 at best. Watchable but only if you're really really really bored.

I'd give this a 7/10 if I were to review it now. It was a good movie that delivered a decent ending. Poked fun at the genre as well as playing homage.

6/10 it was ok. After seeing Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon that movie payed a far better homage to the genre. Scream is an afterthought for me.
